    Once upon a time, Bruce Wayne studied Superman's Silver-Age Krytonian tech and discovered a machine similar to the Phantom Zone Projector. So in his quest to return to His universe, he gathered a bunch of outsiders and taught them to be Batmen, feared by criminals as much as dragons are feared by Ishgardians, they become the heroes Ishgard deserves, bot not the heroes Ishgard needs.

    Well.... no. They don't. As a Lalafell Black Mage, I cast attacks by swinging the weapon under my left arm and flinging it outwards. As a White Mage, I cast attacks similarly to how I cast cures, except pushing my staff towards the foe at the end. So, they do indeed have unique casting animations depending on the type of spell.

    There's no reason why any weapons added wouldn't have their own unique animations either, or even unique casting animations for Dark Knight spells.

    Personally, I have a hunch that Dark Knight will branch off Marauder (It makes the most sense) and be able to wield great axes, as well as have a few unique greatswords for levels 30+. No reason they couldn't change to a job-specific weapon type for DRK once you've unlocked it.

    I wouldn't be surprised if half of these were used, knowing how the dev team likes to throw in puns and easter eggs.

    I meant "cast a spell wielding a wand and shield and then cast the same spell while wielding a staff and the animations match to the spell." Casting Protect for example will follow the same animation no matter which class casts it or what they are currently wielding.

    Animations make that impossible. You'd have to mo-cap and adjust animations to simulate a great sword, as using a big axe and a two-handed sword requires different stances. MRD/WAR's arm placement and footwork is designed for the use of a great axe (one hand at the base of the shaft, one near the head of the axe; feet spread apart for weight distribution and balance). This same stance and footwork wouldn't work for a two-handed sword.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

    They at one point in an interview when talking about multiple jobs, mentioned
    they were considering a system, where say if drk came off gld. then you had to
    choose pld or drk, and could not take back your choice.

    was a long time ago, and I hope they realised would have been bad lol

    recently yoshida did say that they aren't planning to realease another jobs for the actual class, that they are thinking to change some stuff in the class/jobs system, but we don't have really clear information about this. maybe at the fanfest of london that seems more... based on the jobs announcement.
