Statements like this make me angry. It's like willful ignorance is the new thing to be. It was explained hundreds, if not thousands, of times why they can't. Ignorance is bliss but that only works if you don't know.

But let me humour you.

Now remove all the single player games from that list and you're left with the only game that you should compare FFXIV to; FFXI. There was a lore reason why you had your avatars the way they were. This is a new MMO, they can do what they like. They create the lore, they follow the lore, if you don't like it, that's not their problem (you can only vote one way, with your wallet).

FFXI already destroyed it. You don't summon like in all other Final Fantasy games, only once big damage go away, and don't try to tell me you do because then you'd be lying. So they ran with the roaming pet, gave it a reason why they look how they do, and that's where we are.

Basically, your crying falls on deaf ears because it's an argument in futility. What you want is retconning of all the lore which is fine in lesser games but not so hunky-dorey in Final Fantasy games (so I am told).
