THM and CNJ did it just fine before the calamity.Lore wise that wouldn't work either, as both THM and CNJ's lore specifically states the weapon is used as part of the spell casting process - it's used to channel aether from the caster/environment and direct it towards the desired target, like a conduit. ACN is a little different, but even they need their grimoire out, as they need to do calculations in it to generate their spells/summon with.
Yep yep... in fact, my characters name is a direct result of being able to cast weapon-free! When you cast back then, your hands would glow hence the name 'Glitterhands'.
I would LOVE to see this return, if only so my namesake makes more sense in this revised world.
If this damn book can glow brighter than the sun, why can't it float and why I gotta hold it? The nexus books should fly around like minions, stopping only when needed.
In 1.0, there was a popular tactic for skipping phases in Garuda called Facepalm Burn, it was so OP that Yoshi told us to stop using it while they were fixing it.
I wonder if anyone will understand this.
This or atleast make it so that BLM thunder, fire and ice casting animation is different from each other
I would vote yes to change summoner casting animation!
would be nice if we had different casting animations so everytime we cast a spell the animation would be random

The fire/ice animations are different. I'm not 100% on thunder.
How does wanting things to be taken down a notch relate to realism? Magic isn't real, son.
Or like during 1.xNot unlike FFXI, you should be able to cast with your hands with your weapon holstered. Maybe changeable with a command (i.e. /changecast)?

Would this be possible?

Put the hand on the forehead
Also make it possible that we can cast with the back to the target again
