Yes! I would love to try 1.0+ since I didn't have the opportunity to try it before. Also, I'm one of those people who actually like FFXI combat system, therefore I wouldn't mind 1.0's one. Yes, it's slower compared to 2.0, but this is not an action game, it's an RPG! RPG. With a slower pace combat, I was able to admire everything I was fighting and that helped me to get immersed into the fight. With 2.0's combat... most of the times I'm too busy looking at my skills and red AoE that I don't even have time to look at the mob completely lol. So yes, I would.

Not sure if sarcasm or not. I don't think so..? lol :P

I had a lot of hilarious times in FFXI just managing that system. I liked the feeling of "preparing" to go out on an adventure. You thought of what you did before you did it, like playing Witcher on crazy hard mode - you don't go without crafting for the occasion lol, you prepared for every adventure (there are many games like that, just played modded hardcore difficulty witcher recently hyping up for 3.. its on my mind ^^).

Also since we are talking about it, I feel like there are a few monsters that still have types in ARR... I swear Ochus see from all directions (smell?). Specially the ones by Hawthorne hut or w.e in East Shroud, they turn around full 180 to spray all over me lol.

That is why many people will talk about ARR and compare it to the original, and wether one agrees with their opinions or not, I do think the comparison is both natural and entitled.

ARR is a different game only in the sense that they molded XIV in a more mainstream and shape, it is still the same logo (with the addition of "A realm reborn"), the same lore, even the same NPCs. If you pay even the least attention to the dialogue, the changes that XIV went through during the downtime are explained by NPCs, such as changes in the landscapes, the Moogles' new function as postmen etc. Would you then claim ARR to be a brand new game? I certainly wouldn't, it really isn't. It's the same game, under a new direction of game design made by the team to make the game float. It's no wonder people compare it to the original, wether they like or dislike the changes.
To a certain extent I truly understand where you're coming from. And I appreciate the gentle approach towards me as well in your post. Me personally, and if I can find it, I thought it was stated FFXIV:ARR was a new game, from FFXIV. Mainly, a different engine, and different servers. To me that's new game. But I'm not ignorant or blind to the fact that the lore, some of the music, and most of the atmosphere is from FFXIV. Which I appreciate, even if I didn't experience it first hand myself.

I was pointing out, that there is such a thing as holding on to something for far too long. I learned that personally the hard way when it came to FFXI. Thankfully I left before, what I thought personally was just another bullet into poor FFXI, SoA came out. I personally wasn't thrilled with the direction XI was going in after Abyssea (I actually loved Aby, that's my opinion though.) I don't mind if they actually add more FFXIV elements into there, I think it would make for some exciting things to happen. I'm excited and happy for the future of this game and I can't wait to see what Yoshi-P brings to the table (Since if I'm not mistaken, he brought Abyssea to FFXI, which I thought was awesome.) Any who, the point I was simply trying to get at is this, those who are filled with such resentment and hate towards FFXIV:ARR, it just confuses me as to why you toture yourself in staying here or in the game or both. Why play something that you don't enjoy? To those that stay, from FFXIV, that want to see it grow, and give positive and helpful suggestions, that's great! I hope you guys continue to enjoy and get excited for the future as I do.

In short, I just don't think moving backwards towards something that isn't even a game anymore, will help the future of FFXIV:ARR.

In a heartbeat, if they would update it like they used to and add new content.

Having experienced 1.0 in the original beta I must answer with an emphatic "No". 1.0 beta almost made me NOT want to participate in the 2.0 beta. That is how terrible it was.

I guess the negative population of the original players linger in hope of changes that will bring back what they loved about the original. The exact thing people miss probably vary from person to person. Some of those things I honestly think might come in the future, like larger zones, eventually. Others, probably not.

Anyway, to answer OP's question; no, I wouldn't play on that server. But for me it's mostly a matter of immersion - I'm no roleplayer, but it would feel odd to be there if the original landscapes were present, like good ol' Coerthas. As much as I loved Coerthas back then, storywise it doesn't look like that anymore. Nostalgia would definetly be a reason to play, and also just for the fun of seeing how slow the combat system actually was (I really never thought about it, but I'm pretty sure I'd notice the difference!). But no.

Definitively yes, even if I am enjoying ARR, 1.0 had magic I only found on Vana Diel (FFXI, actually the best MMORPG out there imho).
FFXIV follow a quest-layout that's nice in some ways but too linear: FFXI and XIV 1.0 just made you in an amazing world with an incredible OST with no guides or hints. However, they could improve UI.

I would not. Just because I would miss a lot of features of this game, the DR for one, jumping, and not having lag (THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME) In 1.0 there was lag, no matter what, so Titan would not work ever, unless you had a machine to tell you about everything coming up. The lag is what made 1.0 really rough

Other than that, I really enjoyed the gameplay itself, the "skillchains" were fantastic, breaking horn's if you wanted it to drop and such that was amazing...i do miss that.

it's just certain elements that i miss.

    bigger areas.
    better graphics.
    casting while moving.
    not so WoWish.
    not so flashy.

but there were just soooooooo many flaws.
all in all i like ARR a tiny bit more.

There was a reason why nobody was playing on 1.0 (was more a 0.3 in my eyes, I have impression it was like " oh, the game is not finished, whatever, lets give it to them like this" )
