    One thing I've neglected...

...is remembering that I have to level alchemist to level 15 for me to be able to become a white mage. Annoyed at myself for not forgetting that.

Anyway, I wanted to level blacksmith to make money/gil in this game, but am not sure what my best options are as far as going straight into becoming a blacksmith or continuing on my quest to level my white mage.

My goal ultimately is to make enough money/gil to buy upper level armor for end game. So I'm thinking I should go ahead and level blacksmith and then go back to doing my white mage stuff later.

What are my best options? Any advice is appreciated.

Leveling a crafting discipline costs money or can take up a large amount of time. If recommend getting your WHM up, because you're a healer you can basically spam dungeons to get money and if you are in need on the roulette you get bonus Gil to buy crafting stuff etc.

Not sure if its a typo, but its Arcanist to 15 for White Mage, not Alchemist!

For money making, it all depends on what sells on your server. For most of the expensive gear (3 stars), you will need nearly all crafts at 50 to use their cross class skills. You can always just level a crafting class of your choice alongside levelling WHM, and use levequests to make levelling the crafting class up quicker.

Okay, finally some questions I can answer!

First, its not alchemist you have to level to 15 for WHM, its Arcanist. As of current writing, You do not have to level any crafting classes in order to obtain any battle classes.

Second, end game gear is almost entirely unpurchaseable with gil, as it is all untradeable. literally, once you hit 50, you can spend 2 hours on hunts (which is an entirely different animal) and obtain gear that is multitudes better than anything craftable. The one exception to this, from what I have heard, is a single craftable ring, but generally, crafting isn't the way to go for end game gear.

Crafting is a major gil sink, and a major time sink. an easier path for gil, on the other hand, lies in your Disciple of Land (DoL) classes. these are your miners and loggers of the realm. they are still a time sink, but require very little gil investment, and can generate as much gil as you put time into it. for example, on my server, I can spend 20 mins, gather a stack of flax, and sell it for about 45k. multiply this by how much time you have, and bam, you have money to spend.

When you do go to level your arcanist up, as a suggestion, the best modes of 1-15 leveling is class quests, hunting logs, guildhests once you get to 10, and fates once those are exhausted. if you follow that order, you can usually hit 15 in a class in around 2-3 hours.

My main class is gladiator/paladin, and I hit a roadblock when trying to do my relic quest. I basically ran out of gil to complete my quest.

So, hunts is where you hunt monsters/creatures in an area right and get a high amount of gil? I'll have to give this a try because I want to continue on my end game stuff first and foremost. Any other advice would be appreciated on this.

Not at all. Hunts is a separate system where large creatures that roam the land get killed by a whole bunch of players, and they drop allied seals and tomes of mythology. it is currently the fastest way to obtain I90 gears.

this guide is fairly helpful, if you stick around to read it. actually, the entire subreddit is a treasure trove of useful information, which I definitely recommend reading if you have time.

Seperately, you mentioned running out of gil for your relic quest. which step did you run out on? the materia portion? if so, have you tried spiritbonding yourself? it takes a bit longer, but is another great way to earn gil.

Tbh I wouldn't buy gear between your myth and job gear, you get myth so easily theres no point spending your money. Theres so many ways to make gil, I think one of the most popular is soul binding, I don't soul bind so I can't tell you much but basically soul binding -> material -> pray to rng gods for good materia = fast money. I also just used spare myth on crafting mats from the vendor and sold those for quick gil, not the best way but a way.

Buying crafted can get you i95 gear so you -can- get good gear but it'll be outdated soon even when it's overmelded. But for a level 50 character who is doing first coil or the early extremes it's still -awesome-.

I'm a bit... teeny tiny bit worried. How did you get your main to 50 but not know that you should unlock your job for your conjurer or to keep updating your gear? Did no one help you when you ran your main? I know tanks can faceroll Titan but... how didn't you learn at least some of its mechanics, landslide being the specific one that you mentioned hurting you, while tanking him? I would have assumed that tanking brayflox would have been harder to do while undergeared than it is healing it undergeared...

I couldn't see if you did tell them you were new but having a main as pld ready for its relic I'm pretty sure they thought you -weren't- new because, correct me if I'm wrong I don't remember, the relic questline requires you to have completed the main story. So there would be no new message. So they might have thought you were trolling.

They should not have acted as such still. Many people are very impatient and there's a reason patience is a virtue.

If the dungeon requires level 30, and appropriate gear for a level 30 (I.E. Standard gear one would expect a level 30 to have from their first time playing the game,), those are the requirements, and the rule of thumb. I don't know what you think this is, in all honesty, but this is a bloody video game. Not a job. If I pick up this game, and it tells me I can swap from, say, a THM to a GLD after completing my level 15 quest, then by God that's the rule of bloody thumb.
You people make up the weirdest shit just to be elitist. What's next? Look up a video guide for Tam-Tara NM because you don't have time to wait for a newbie to learn the damn game? Christ, it's no wonder everyone hates MMOs.
    ^^^^ This! So much win!
