Was the tank marking monsters so you didn't have two strong DPS individually attacking other mobs? Was the tank grabbing more monsters than they could handle? This is just personal opinion, but when I personally tank, it would feel like an insult if DPS were holding back. The rotation you use for aggro management as PLD doesn't really change since lv 26, except now you have an ADDITIONAL AoE skill that you can weave in, making aggro management even easier.

It's not hard at all to hold threat from ilv 110s as an ilv 90 PLD. Yeah, some people are new/still learning, but i90 in Expert Roulette? You have to draw the line somewhere. I'm not saying you should be impolite to new players, but coddling someone who can't do their job at ilv 90 isn't going to help them improve.

WAR is a lot easier to hold threat against people who out gear you when there is multiple targets, overpower spam FTW! That being said I find PLD better for single target. Tanking at 50 is also quite different than tanking while levelling, especially when new to a dungeon and unsure of mob mechanics.

I agree 1000% with trying to take it easy on newer players, communication and decency can go a long way.

Be considerate means you take into account the larger picture and be considerate of multiple facets. The "no newbies wanted" check box is one example of people not being considerate. And yelling at people is also NOT being considerate. People a playing the game trying to get along, and they are not looking for performance review, and they are certainly not looking to get criticism constructive or otherwise. Provide gentle guidance, support, encouragement, and advice. It will work much better.

Are you seriously bringing this up in this thread? Lmao. That thread is about party finder, not duty finder. Leave it in the thread it belongs in and don't bring it up in unrelated threads, seriously. It's completely off topic here.

I for one would never behave that way in a dungeon in duty finder. A good DPS does everything they can to help the party clear the content, including dialing it back if the tank is obviously having difficulty holding aggro off them.

Please read the whole post instead of tl;dr and taking points out of context. I've said it once and I may probably say it again. I am not against people who are learning the ropes. But I dislike the people who can't learn from their mistakes nor accept any form of criticism.

My views completely differ from yours, yet you cant even see the 'big picture'. Giving guidance, support, encouragement, can be seen as forms of criticism. I see criticism as a way to improve and as a learning experience, no matter how it was received. Not you, nor nobody else will change my stance on this matter.

Ideally, inceances are a team effort. In this case pretty shows why people dont wanna play healer or tanks.

I actually agree that it's inconsiderate to pressure new players to skip their cutscenes in story content or to ditch ST as soon as you win a roll.

However, while I think that actions like those are typical of the rude MMO player stereotype, they aren't particularly indicative that this game is unusually toxic to newbies.

A lot of your comments seem predicated on the notion that new players are helpless to a large degree and need a lot of hand-holding when this game is actually very newbie-accessible. Most players who have i90+ gear and can't play their classes at even a basic level of competence are that way because they choose not to learn, not because they are somehow disadvantaged.

Yes, be considerate to new players, help them when you can, and don't purposely make their experience unpleasant, but also don't absolve them of the reasonable expectation of being an active participant in their own learning process.

Hmm...Well he could of been a fresh 50 tank and stuff with Tanking gear saved. We don't really know...
Tanking does get a bit harder as you climb up...I remember doing Tam's NM, and had a ilvl90+ DRG that kept taking Aggro and couldn't really help it, the PLD had a hard time
keeping up but the DRG eventually tried slow down so he can take away his aggro and even gave tips.
I was happy. The tank never spoke but I guess he listened because he did what the DRG told him and improved. It was a fun run.

Anyways, good luck. If you seen anything with CS topic's a lot of peoples can't be nice on here lol so man, it's rolling the die there.

SE tries to make the game more casual friendly with these easy dungeons but it ends up having the opposite effect. Speed running becomes the norm which is stressful and difficult for tanks and healers, and not in a fun way. A gap forms between the experienced, well geared players and the inexperienced, lesser geared players. The tanks that don't have speed running for each dungeon down to a science can't perform at the expected level and as a result end up having miserable experiences.

Even though I'm a pretty experienced speed running tank but I don't touch 4-man 50+ dungeons anymore. I feel sorry for newbie tanks who attempt that content. It's far too stressful.
