lol this is some b*llsh*t. This entire process has been a nightmare for me. I called in late for work trying to get the original tickets but was unable too...then tried again on the next round and the same happened. So I ended up having to pay triple for a ticket off of Ebay cause of the EXCLUSIVE in-game item that you HAVE to be present for....then didn't have a chance to get the VIP ticket...now this? less then 2 weeks before the event nonetheless. Talk about false advertisement.... if it weren't for the exclusive item I wouldn't have even bothered.

Could you point out where exactly it says that only attendees would receive the Moogle Attire? It says that attendees will receive it, and that if you purchased a ticket you'd have to attend to receive the item, but nowhere does it says that only attendees would be getting it.

What, exactly is the false advertisement? I don't see anything on their site that says the Moogle Attire is exclusive. It merely says that ticket holders will receive it, and that if you bought a ticket but don't show up then you don't get it.

However, players who purchase tickets but don’t attend the event are ineligible to receive this special gift, so be sure to join the festivities and collect your prize!"

"Each attendee", which means people who attend the event. The only people who can attend the event are people who purchase tickets. Therefore only people who purchased tickets AND attending would be receiving the item. That is, until they announced people who are not actually attending could receive the item if they bought a premium stream pass.

I think you're arguing semantics to an extreme. They wouldn't be stressing that you need to attend to receive the item if you didn't need to, you know, attend. Sitting at home watching is not "attending".

I'm just saying you can't claim it's exclusive when they never said it was. The fact is, the people who are paying for the premium livestream are in effect attending the event, just in a non-physical sense. It's the same thing Blizzard does with Blizzcon. As much as I'd love for the item to have been exclusive, I can't blame them for doing this. It gives a chance for people who wanted to see the Fan Fest panels but couldn't afford the trip a chance to do so.

If you want exclusives, there's the physical gifts, the local in-game content (which will probably have one or more exclusive shirts for victory), the at-con only Live Quest, and the chance to purchase merchandise (will likely have some first chance exclusives). Not to mention the fact that you're in Vegas, which is fun enough with the Fan Festival.

I like how you are being super picky about semantics on how it never said "exclusive" but being very broad when it comes to the definition of "attend"

    at·tend
    əˈtend/Submit
    verb
    1.
be present at (an event, meeting, or function).

That definition says nothing about being physically present. One can attend an event virtually, even in a non-interactive sense. Blizzcon and teleconferencing are prime examples of being able to attend an event without physically being there.

lol.... To be present you need to be there physically. It's a given. There's not even a real term for being "digitally present" or the sort. It's like not attending class and your professor goes up to you and says," You were not present in my class yesterday" and you are like,"Yes I was, I was streaming your class, I was present....just not physically." What reaction do you think your professor would give you. So you say this isn't False Advertising....would you say it was misleadng? I would. I feel like I was lead to believe that the only way to get the item was to buy a ticket AND attend the event.

I'm going to assume you've never taken an online class? There are plenty that you have to be connected at a certain time digitally to be considered present, and have no physical classroom for you to visit. As well, you would say that somebody who connected to a teleconference is attending the meeting.

Also, I would not call it misleading. If I wasn't given the item for attending, or if they changed up the item, then I'd call it misleading. The fact is, I'm still receiving the item. The fact that others are receiving the same item I am doesn't invalidate the fact that I'm getting the item.

being "considered" or being "given credit" for being present is still not being technically present (since you want to be so technical). Thus, this is why in the forms you sign when signing up to online classes they will explicitly state what will constitute being present, as you are not actually being present. Nowhere is this distinction ever made by SE. So not Misleading? Just about every FFXIV news site uses the word "Exclusive" when talking about the item, that means they were mislead...Stating that you have to buy a ticket AND attend the event to receive the item when that is definitely not the case would constitute as misleading. Are you even attending the festival?

So being present isn't being present? That's what you just said.

SE needs to make a distinction about what now? The only thing they said about having to be physically present is that if you purchased a ticket then the only way you'd get the code is by being at the convention. They didn't say there wouldn't be alternate means of getting the item.

As for "exclusive", the fact is that SE didn't use the word. If other news sites used it, then that's their problem. I don't take anything that SE wrote to mean it was exclusive.

Yes, I am attending the festival (got my ticket in the first batch). No, I really don't care that people who are paying for a live stream are getting the same in-game item I am. No, I don't feel that the money I spent on the trip was wasted. As I've said before, I'd have liked for it to be exclusive, but the fact that others are receiving it doesn't devalue the fact that I'm getting it.
