+1Meh, Fishing is a collector/completionist class, and any fish that are useful should be considered the exception rather than the norm.
What fishing sorely lacks are actual trophies - there should be tons of craftable trophies stupid titles and achievements associated with these big fish, especially for ones without interesting desynths. Getting all 87 big fish should award the title "Big K'huna" (a legendary miqote fisher `-`) or something equally silly :P
Something like this for housing as an example

I don't know if it would solve anything, but that aquarium idea sounds cool. It would be even cooler if you can choose the type of aquarium and the types of things that would go inside of them (decorations, etc.).
I think fishing is the worst gathering job on the game. Gotta add ton of melds to to the best equipment and even then it all RNG and doesn't have any special abilities to increase gathering rate or HQ chance like botanist or miner does.
Yeah plus I hate when I forget my map timer is up and accidentally fish up a leather map or some other one I don't want.
It wasn't so much like this in 1.0 ;(.1) For something to do
2) ??
3) Profit
Fishing due to the bathing suits already effects the economy more than they ever wanted fishing to effect it. They specifically made it from the beginning as an activity to do because you liked to do it. It wasn't supposed to be for anything other than that. Bathing suits are the outlier so far and even Yoshi said they won't make vanity items that hard to get from fishing again.
You can still make profit in 2.0 with it too.. its just why bother when comparing to the other gatherers with less work begets greater profit.
which expensive melds? you only need gathering, no gp and perception is useless aswell, since it doesnt matter if a big fish is hq or not. The base perception at lvl 50 is high enough to catch every mooch with max HQ rate
fisher has the cheapest melds of all classes
Big Fishing is like the Hunt system: chasing windows and long streaks of nothing happening.
I like both.
Fishes of certain type should have the potential of eating other fish. So if you put them in the aquarium, after a certain amount of time, don't be surprised if fishes disappear. That would give people reason to restock the aquarium.
Um, I don't have a fish tank or even a house yet, but I'm pretty sure having my pet fish eaten wouldn't encourage me to catch a new one just to get it eaten again later. That'd just be really annoying an unnecessary.
You obviously never had a real life aquarium. The wrong mix of fish, and before you know it, you got 1 really big fish. It would be fun. The fish that eat the others would get bigger. So you can feed the fish other fish to get it to transform.
