What cause players to quit Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn

I just cancelled my account. Reasons: 1. Choreographed fights. There should be a moogle with a megaphone on the side of the fight arena calling out when to run to points marked with an 'A' or 'B'. 2. If you live in a place where you have latency, you will never clear content. I have often found that my screen shows my character clear of the area of effect boundaries, further away from the boss monster than the other characters are, yet mine if the only one getting hit by it. This happens because even though my graphics show one thing, the game server has progressed past what I am seeing. (my computer was custom built for graphics/computer games. That does not help against latency issues. When I pack up the computer and travel to a different city, with lower latency, the problems disappear). 3. Spamming instant death tactics in boss fights. This, to me, shows a lack of ability to write an interesting scene. If anyone remembers FF XI, Dynamis didn't spam instant death, yet it was both difficult and fun. 4. Movement controls in game are poor. Fights are like swimming in molasses, with long cooldowns. Consumables are nearly pointless, due to long cooldowns.

That's because the scenario themselves where instant death:

Dynamis-Jeuno: If your Thief failed the AH pull, alliance wiped.
Dynamis-Beaucedine: If anyone even moved a step the wrong way when you would pull Angra Mainyu with his dragon buddies, alliance wiped.
Dynamis-Xarcabard: If Dynamis Lord would resist more than one stun, alliance wiped.
Any Dynamis with a Summoner NM: Bard forgot to reapply sleep? Astral Flow, alliance wiped.

If anything, this game instant can easily be more controlled than the one in Dynamis so your comparison falls flat.

It's 100% grinding there are other newer games with little or no wait times for instant gratification. Free to play FFXIV is coming.

People said the same things you did during beta, that it wouldn't last more than a few months before free to play. Yet here we are, with an expansion on the way and the game still going pretty strong. But you don't really care about that, do you ? You'd rather use the forum, a place where <1% of the people even post, where a few people agrees with your views (based on nothing more than their own anecdotal evidences) and where some disagrees with you as a form of argument (again with anecdotal evidences) as to why the game is going to go F2P. Truth is, you don't have the data, I don't have the data but one thing is certain, the game isn't dying by any stretch of the imagination.

If party wipes in Dynamis (happened a few times), then re-raise by white mage, and then the whole party is back up in about 5 minutes. When I went, party wipes were pretty rare.

I'm cancelling my account within 30 days of subscribing because I ran out of quests to level. I know there are quests out there, but I work full time and I don't want the couple of hours I have each night to play spent on searching for things to do and running halfway across the world to get to them. I also didn't realize what the leve allowance meant and now it means I will have to wait a few days for my chocobo, something I'm just not willing to do, when I can just as easily go over to SWTOR or even... shiver... WoW and be able to find something to do constantly without downtime or lengthy travel times. Poorly designed game in many respects.

Umm I don't see how you could run out. I leveled 1-60 without running out. /shrug

You do the exact same thing in SWTOR..I fail to see the complaint here.

There are more ways to level in this game than quests. I would encourage you to try them out. There are FATEs, dungeons, levels 1-50 have a hunting log, and the challenge log. Don't forget to do your daily leveling roulette for some great exp!

You will run out of quests to level FAR faster in SWTOR. They are actually making that a selling point. Then the new "expac" is something you can finish in less than a weekend. New 1 hour and shorter chapters will be released on a monthly basis, starting next month. All of the level 65 content, outside of this story, is actually original launch content that is forced level sync. So what you complain about here is worse there.

I don't get the leve thing because you can get those tokens from any number of methods. Additionally if you didn't just one track through the story, that story takes you past all the other quests in the world. So really the "having to go in search of quests..." is a consequence of you own choice.

I think you would have better off asking the community for help with leveling rather than necro-posting an "I quit" thread. FFXIV has more ways to get xp than both SWTOR and WoW.
