How fast is "very fast"? What's your upload speed? How far from NA do you live? The only people I ever hear of that have to use things like WTFast, are Aussies.I have a very fast internet connection but also have to pay for WTFast just to log in. It's disappointing having to spend $19 a month to play this. I have subbed 3 months and realized I could have bought another game entirely. In fact I wasted several days of my free trial not being able to play because to me I have never heard of needing another service to play a game. Also there were a ton of complaints online about the same issue and a lot of people were just speculating that the servers were too busy.
I have played Eq, Eq2, Aion, TSW, Tera, GW2, WoW, etc and this is the ONLY game I need to pay extra for just to log in. Since I don't have much time to play I am seriously thinking of abandoning the game as well as it doesn't provide the same value as other games I enjoy.
yeah the lag isnt SE's fault. or at least not entirely. myself and my 3 room mates (ps4, ps3, gaming pc, "school" pc) all play ff14, usually at the same times, during peak hrs, and we do not lag. though we do pay for the best "gaming" connection that our ISP provides (Bright House Lightning:90) so yeah
I live in San Francisco, CA and use Comcast. They just upgraded their speed again, not sure how fast it is now exactly but all my other services load very quickly.
Here you go Vinnyk and Jim_Berry:

Download speed and Upload speed are completely different. Head over and do a quick SpeedTest. I know a few players from CA with Comcast that play just fine, actually.
EDIT: When you finish, you'll get a result looking something like this:![]()

That's very fast. If you want a better answer, go into Command Prompt (Start, type cmd, may need to right-click Run as Administrator). Type tracert 199.91.189.57. Then, type ping 199.91.189.57. Post the results (have to right-click the top bar -> Mark -> highlight what you need -> right-click top bar -> Copy). We can help you get a better answer, and frankly, I'm curious as to what path Comcast takes.
If you're wondering why 199.91.189.57: That's your server's IP address, found here.
Actually SE is not a customer of the backbone providers... they (like us) are customers of the last mile providers. Those last mile providers (our ISP's) have the enforceable agreements with those NSP's. You pay your ISP to manage your route... you have an enforceable agreement with them that compels them to investigate/address issues within their network or to lean on or otherwise change their NSP (in the US, the major providers are required by regulations to maintain agreements with no less then 3 NSP's for widescale transit/peer exchange).
If they will not address your concerns that you have clearly detailed for them (ie, provided tracert data and such), then you have the option of filing a complaint with either your localized regulatory authority or a higher authority if available (like the FCC). Contact details should be provided in your bill. For South Carolina, that is an office in the state's capitol. For TWCSC, the address and phone number is on the back of the stub you send in with payment.
Thank you for the tip, this will probably be my next step.If they will not address your concerns that you have clearly detailed for them (ie, provided tracert data and such), then you have the option of filing a complaint with either your localized regulatory authority or a higher authority if available (like the FCC). Contact details should be provided in your bill. For South Carolina, that is an office in the state's capitol.
