T5 trouble

On the PS3 debate : We have a PC and PS4, and take turns playing on both. Whoever has PS4 still gets horrendous lag (5+ seconds more load time, hit by AOE's we didn't even get a marker for, and on the TV we're running next to each other on our Choco's but on the PC screen i'm miles behind). PS4 won't fix all your issues.

Idk what issues you have but if you're getting hit by AOE's on ps4 it's cause either your bad or your getting a lot of lag related to your connection ( I personally don't play over wifi). I have no problem dodging during Titan, Levi,turn 5 dive bombs. The only platform I feel has a valid latency issue is the ps3.

I have to agree. I can easily avoid mechanics on ps4. This sounds more like a connection issue. Ps3 has a slower frame rate refresh so it makes it slightly more challenging, although a good player can easily compensate.

One person in my static plays on ps3 and we only ever had an issue when trying to do Mario Kart method for T9 divebombs. I've successfully done this on ps4 while she would tend to lag behind the group and stack meteors.

If PS3 really is the problem, then wouldnt everything be affected by the slow frame rate or lag? Wouldn't my heals be cast later than input? Wouldnt people die from "bad timing" more often. If i can time a Cure 3 or Medica II to heal as Titan's massive AoE(when he jumps and everyone stacks) lands.. wouldnt i need to make up for the lag in order to do so?

If there truly is such a noticable difference in gaming platforms.. wouldnt it be so obvious that there isnt any doubt about whether or not it exists? With half of you people saying it does and half saying it doesnt... i dont see how my playstation is actually the cause of failure.

I've been told about the sound effects for conflagration and fireball. I've heard them and know to listen for them but I play when most people are asleep so I don't have the option of turning the volume all the way up. My question wasn't about how to notice them. My problem is with the HUD and possibly my controller settings.

I'm not sure if this will help, but depending on the phase I will be looking at different areas on the screen.

• Eyes on the party list during phases where people are spread out -- like at the beginning when the MT has Twintania and everyone else is DDing the adds, or for after Aetheric Profusion when the Twisters start spawning.

• Eyes on the center of the screen when people are in generally the same area -- like during the Fireball and Conflag stage. If you have party member HP bars visible when below 100%, you should be able to quickly see who needs healing and also where and when Fireballs and Conflags come without moving your eyes around the screen.

And of course keeping the Focus Target bar near the party list so I can see when Death Sentence and Twisters are coming.

When the divebombs come, let everyone else stack in the pit and you go stand in the middle. This way you won't get hit by a divebomb from someone else, or throw the rest of the party all over the place if you were targeted by a divebomb if you were in the pit.

If someone really does have lag problems, I agree it is better that they stand away from the party and try their best to dodge on their own. When everyone stacks in the pit, just one person not getting the timing right for avoiding and also moving back when they are targetted by Divebombs can easily lead to a wipe since it often takes out several party members at once.

Also, I generally don't try to heal at all during Divebombs. I will only use instant cast abilities like Regen because even a fraction of a second of animation lock can lead to being hit and then a wipe.

To be clear and concise: The issue is simply not due to the PS3.

I, too, am on an old PS3, running on a wireless connection, and have had zero issues with instance latency. I've cleared T5 and Titan Ex. The -only- content in the game affected by PS3s is the Hunt, and from what I hear, it's not all rainbows on PC, either. (Loading screens also take forever >.<)

If I remember correctly, SE took steps a few patches ago to address the latency that was causing a huge gap between PC and PS3 players.

The issue -is- due to inexperience. Trust me, T5 can get chaotic. But as you start partying with the same people (it's as easy as making a LS and inviting everyone before/after the run), people start playing their roles better, which in turn makes your job as a healer easier, and makes everything start to make more sense.

Also, turn down the BGM, hahaha.

Thanks for the new tips. Ive learned when to watch the party list and when to watch the battle for the parts i usually make it to. Ill try to run around to avoid divebombs instead of stacking with everyone and see if that helps. Ive tried to put several PFs together to get a solid group to run with but always end up in the cursed duty finder. I know ill get it eventually. Keep the tips coming!

if you are gonna play on a ps3 get a SSD, it loads faster, i did t5 on my ps3, I even did titan ex on my ps3 with no problems
