Why shouldn't someone be allowed to watch the cutscenes on first playthrough?

But its no matter they're falling back to trolling since they know their argument got debunked. And I say trolling because I've already displayed numerous times in the thread that I don't hurt newbies, in fact many of them give me commendations when I stand up for them. Yet they refuse to acknowledge it.

Everyone abuses who? Speed runners abuse the 1st-timers they encounter by forcing them to skip cutscenes, and will do so by verbal abuse, vote kick abuse or locking them out of bosses. Now since when did speed runners equal everyone? People that speed run only when everyone agrees are not speed runners, they are just players that speed run sometimes. So you are making up false statements.

So why is that you feel so compelled to play devil's advocate for the speed runners? Stand up for the newbies as here on the forums as you claim you do in game. Using vote kick on 1st-timers like the OP for watching cutscenes is simply wrong. The system should disable cutscene skipping when it is paying out the 1st-timer bonus.

I can tell you why I do this. Its because of people like you who have the indecency to tell people how they can play their game. People like you who badger, berate, and harass players who just want to get in and do the dungeon run. Its because of people like you who get these players irate and start taking it out on the newbies. People like -YOU- are hurting newbies.

Because lets face it, what have you done to help except come after me and insult me? I've actually helped newbies in game. I've joined PF groups when I see them. I've helped people with primal fights (not just Hardmodes). I've defended newbies in game from those who badger them about watching cutscenes. I've helped a newbie in this very thread understand what is going on and what to expect when they run the level 50 dungeons.

What have you done? Nothing. Nothing at all except to throw fuel on the fire to hurt them in the long run. I hope you're proud of your sorry little self for it.

I compromise because I know I can't change speed runners. And I don't believe they should. They help get the quests completed in a manageable amount of time. Instead of telling a newbie DPS, "Oh I hope there's a another two newbie tanks, and two newbie healers in the queue with you." The system works as it is, especially when both players compromise. Because that's what an online MMO community is supposed to do. Work together and compromise. Give a little to receive a little.

Instead you all cry to SE when something 'foul' happens instead of working it out yourselves. And then have the audacity to insult others who are actually trying to help the situation. For once in your lives, take personal responsibility and work things out between yourselves instead of running to the devs like they're a teacher in a playground.

Indecency to speak up against the bullies? I don't tell people how to play. I am just standing up against the bullies that use verbal abuse, vote kick abuse, and locking the 1st-timer out of the boss fights like the OP experienced. All that is being asked is for people not to troll 1st-timers. And if they can implement no cut scene skipping when the 1st-timer bonus is being paid out, that would be even better.

And I do take responsibility. The first step to being responsible is to not turn a blind eye to the situation. I report every one those speed runners abusing 1st-timers to the GM. That is the very least people can do. Second step, I organize people from my FC, 2 tanks or 2 healer to go with the 1st-timer and put a stop to anyone trying to force the 1st-timer to skip cutscenes. And the third step is to ask for the devs to disable the cut scene skipping when the 1-timer bonus is being paid out. Telling us, who are resisting the bullies to shut-up and yield to them is just complete utter non-starter.

Just how exactly we are going to fix this? You think others will listen to reason? You think they will wait if asked r e a l l y nicely? My guess is.... no!

If they don't want to spend the instance face down the entire way they will. Remember I'm a healer, they do what I tell them to do. I don't allow vote kicks to go through. And since they wasted theirs on a newbie, they can't try to kick me. I don't like bullies, and I have no problem bullying them right back.

We have a very similar view, but are taking different actions to fix the issue. You need to understand that I am trying to help, even if its different. I don't believe reporting them will do anything. To the types of people who write and enforce policies, the speed runners aren't doing anything wrong. And they are only going to get in trouble for vote kick abuse if they keep doing it to the same person over and over. The odds of running into them again are slim to none.

Asking for the first time bonus to prevent cut scene skipping is NOT an elegant solution. I don't know if you know this, but you get that bonus on classes you haven't ran the dungeon before. So for non-first timers, that's 7 times they can't skip. That's not right.

The best solution is to guide newbies. Why are they going into these dungeons alone? Why are they relying on the DF to find groups? When a newbie has to rely on the DF to get a group and things go sour. That's a good chance for a lost player. They're going to quit and not come back. If said new player was in a FC that helped them through, guided them, and even trained them (not coddling) then you would have a better player retention. You would also have a player who can learn, adapt, and overcome nearly any challenge.

This is a failure on the community's part, plain and simple. There should not be many if any newbies going 1-50 alone. Now the newbies do have to meet the community halfway and help the community identify them and bring them into the fold. But the amount of effort being done by Free Companies is abysmal.

I'm not telling you to shut up. I'm telling you to open your eyes and look at the bigger picture. Its easy, really easy to blame a speed runner. Its hip and cool to blame a game developer. Its not so easy to look inward and say, "I done ****'d up." And of course I don't mean you or any individual in particular but everyone as a whole. The reason I said -you- were part of the problem is because you were not advocating for a real solution, only a bandaid fix. And if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem in this case.

I know you want to fix the problem, I do too. But we're not going to fix this issue by insulting people, reporting them, or blaming devs. If all the vets took a newbie through CM and PR like twice a week, this thread wouldn't have shown up. And why shouldn't we? We get to help a newbie, get some myth, watch some cool cutscenes here and there. And best of all, everyone's happy, and we turn newbies into seasoned vets.

Fixed it for you. This is a simple fix and an elegant one. The code change will be minor. The 7 other not skipping is perfect, because it syncs up the players in time. Then they don't get to run ahead and jump in to boss rooms. And this will only happen 1 out of 20 runs anyways.

There is an alternative solution, that is let the 1st-timers, who are not in a pre-formed party vote to not award the bonus, that is by default it will be awarded unless the 1st-timer is so pissed off that they want to make their feeling known.

Since when is watching the cutscene like the OP require people to look inward? That is so blaming the victim. The only people that need to do that are the ones like those that used the vote kick on the OP. And reporting the trolls and speed runners does work. Just like reporting the gil spammers work too even if I all get is automated response. When the GMs get enough data to see a pattern they know what to do.

No you don't. They made guildhest first-time bonus apply to the class instead of the player, but it's limited to guildhests. No other duty.

Been getting it on my Gladiator while leveling. And I haven't stepped into a guildhest with that class.
