Is this game slowly dying?

Yoshida himself said that creations of new FC's is 'gently decreasing' so yeah, I think its at the point where most people have tried it and got bored with it. All the 1.0 players I knew are all gone, got bored, etc. I think most people are waiting to see if the expansion can save their faith in the game.

You know it's not right to say this game is dead yet. The expansion pack could do really well depending on what it means. So if they raise the level cap to level 60, it might bring some people back... This game was level 50 in 1.0, so it still is. The expansion pack might motivate people into sticking around for GOOD this time.

Only if SE changes their approach. There's a lot of things wrong with the game, and just slapping more of the same grindy, rng based, gilsink based, throw ground poo until someone lags and wipes the raid content isn't going to motivate anyone to stick around for "good".

Big reason why I think people are saying this is because they're on a lower population server that was made during the launch to try and accommodate everyone. So during the times close to the end of a patch cycle server count is lower than norm. Where as my server still has que times during peak times. Consolidation of the lower count servers would cause people to panic and jump ship saying the game really was dieing due to that.

You're right. To my opinion though. it's time for an expansion pack no matter what. Some of this game is old like the level cap ETC.

Well, each to there own and all, but I would say there is a lot good with the game too. I for one am certainly enjoying it, as do others who seem to be having fun. It has been a year already, and the game could hardly be called a graveyard. That is not to say improvements do not need to be made, of course there are, no MMO has ever been perfect. But that is when an expansion can/should really shine. Perhaps I am being overly optimistic (A rarity in gaming forums, I know!) but I for one am really looking forward to the expansion and what new life it may add.

FFXIV: ARR isn't going anywhere. If it hasn't died out as fast as The Elder Scrolls Online or Wildstar, you shouldn't believe that it's going to die ot go F2P anytime soon, if ever.

A game only dies if people leave and do not return. Currently some folks are dipping their feet into a few other games that are available on the market (IE Destiny) and taking a short break (like myself taking a 2-week break and going through Mass Effect again). Also, school is back in session so part of the population is no longer available during parts of the day.

I dont know about you guys but my world is full of ppl, maybe youre not hangging around the right places in Eorzea, you wanna know if your world is dying or not, thats easy, when some one shouts "Rank S at ?X?Y" go there and see how many ppl will show up to kill the fiend. After "the hunt" more and more players are actually playing instead of standing there like statues lol after patch 2.4 its gonna be crazy! but like someone said earlier, new worlds were made and if youre in one of those new worlds then Eorzea might look empty to you, when I started playin my world was really empty (I would usually see at most 5 ppl in Central Thanalan) now its one of the richest world and the most crowded (I'm from Cactuar) and I also feel like the PF is going faster than usual, and they said that more 1 billion people plays this so, also maybe the time youre playing is not really the rush hour so ppl might be working or sleeping.
