I'm loving the updates as well and I'm a DoM main too. From my experience so far, the MP cost made the battles more strategic. Mages can't multitask much now, but that's a problem for me. It seems to be focusing more on giving people specific roles in parties. When I partied with another THM, he said on heal duty while I nuked; we didn't have any trouble with that.
So far my experience with the game has been enhanced.
While I'm still low level on this char (I have a Mi'qote on another server in the mid levels), I can see the issue with capping one class and being thrown a curve ball in regards to your class' role. However once jobs were mentioned, this should have already been a red flag. The cure costs, I obviously can't test at this level, however I think they're encouraging people to get back up healers like in XI instead of 1 person healing the whole party. Mages had a problem with cure spamming before, while this patch might have been extreme, let's try to figure out new strats instead of complaining.
I call this BS. I didn't feel 'locked as White Mage' at all. In fact, I felt I was actually having to think a bit instead of cycling debuffs and spamming Sac III with absolutely no problem or risk.
Also, Scourge II and Banish II are on Shadowsear damage level now, overal accuracy of debuffs is much higher than before, and in my opnion, as a Thaumaturge main since Open Beta, the nerfs did end up as a good thing. At best, I would reduce a bit the MP costs, but not back to what it was
Its like these ppl complaining about things already have not even logged in yet? You can't start rage threads based on patch notes and expect ppl to take you seriously. The game has been injected with much needed strategy now.
I swear if I hear "SE is not gonna dictate my play style! RAGEQUITE" again i'm gonna explode...

As a just about to ding 50 Conj, I really like the changes. No longer can I spam heals, and other spells. I have to actually pay attention. Skills such as Soughspeak and Siphon MP have a much bigger impact than they did before, let's not forget Spiritbind and Radiant Soul, or Tranquility.
Use the skills available to you. I completely re-did my skill bar upon logging in, and I am likely to tweak it some more yet. You can now play two VERY different types of conjurer.
Oh and put some points into Mind, you'd be surprised how much it helps. Oh and before you criticize, I partook in Darkhold as a main healer, with no problems.

None of my LS's mages complains as well, i am happy thwy switched my THM role to a more party oriented and focus on debuff on fights rather than i-can-do-anything-mage.
So many mages, spamming cure! Outrageous, it's like you people don't think we've been paying attention from the beginning . I'm sorry I leveled Conjurer with the expectation that someday I'd be able to farm things solo with an attack that didn't involve mp! I'm sorry I wanted to be anything more than your Cure whore!
I'm sorry but, when I joined the game I was promised being what I wanted to be! Even now we've been told this will foster even more unique-ness to classes, with the addition of jobs!
I wasn't aware, that as a conjurer, that meant changing my name to MP-paranoid White mage. I haven't run out of MP yet, and MP isn't really the issue for me! It's having my role as an amateur thaumaturge and r50 conjurer set for me! Weren't designated healers and tanks supposed to be a thing of the past? Weren't the party sizes made smaller just for this reason? WTF.
I admit the mp costs are a little outrageous if you expect to live, but if you're my tank and you're dropping to red/orange health every 2 hits from the mob, then you better take a look at what you're doing as well, because you're the reason we're spamming so much!
It's a shame now though that my MP is reserved specifically for healing, as Thau has been reduced to nothing but a DoT butt picker like cons now. I can't believe anyone is actually ok with this. It wasn't fun in XI, and it's not fun now.
Prepatch I could actually participate in battles between cures via nukes, dots, and basic attacks. Now? Please stand still as I fire up one of my rationed Curagas as I've just noticed half of my party at red and yellow health.
