Supply and demand will be the test. I'm betting that many people will no longer be interested in mages with these changes, and while people in large, established LSes may not have trouble finding healers for their groups, everyone else will be screwed.

Plays mostly THM (@30 because of quitting over the lst 9 months off and on due to broken mechanics.ie: Broken leves that you just repeat and fail with zerg tactics) I am very happy with the changes. THMs can't do everything anymore and Cons have a needed place.

I agree. I like the changes too

Well, by definition if you weren't rank 50 you wouldn't be that upset. If I was just starting out I would be worried but I wouldn't care. If I were Rank 20 I wouldn't care. I invested a lot into what I liked.. as did many, I'm sure.
Okay, so the problem with this is that not all R50s share your opinion. And by far, I would say a majority don't, only the vocal minority. You can't paint all of us with broad strokes just because you have that magical 5-0.
I don't think this is a valid reason. From almost the beginning, we all knew there would be radical changes. Investing a lot and expecting it to remain the same was blind faith. In fact, I can't think of a single MMO that I have played where class roles have not changed later in the game due to a released patch.
Anyway, I like the changes. They are more back to the spirit of FFXI and less like WOW. This change starts to bring job definition instead of the idea of "grab a bunch of bodies and let's just go zerg the enemy". In the old FFXI days, you actually had to plan your group and coordinate your battles. FFXIV pre-1.18 got rid of this and thus the game was quite bland. 1.18 adds a bit of spice into the game and I am looking forward to the next patches which continue along this line.
