Why shouldn't someone be allowed to watch the cutscenes on first playthrough?

As always the duty finder exists for all kinds of players, from new to old, speedrunner to the careful.

And each and everyone of those has to be respected.

You as a new player cannot demand that the rest of the party waits for you to finish watching cinematics anymore then they can demand that you skip them.

That said as a first timer i strongly suggest you watch the cinematics, yes they will be alittle out of context but since you will most likely run the dungeon more then once youll be able to experiance the boss fights and the trash killing on your 2nd run.

As someone said above, everything is a two-way street. Should you expect EVERYONE to wait for just YOU to watch the cutscenes? No. Is it the polite thing to do? Absolutely.

I began playing at launch and blasted through the game, reaching CM/Praetorium in about a week and a half. Even THEN I was kicked multiple times for wanting to watch the cutscenes, which was absurd. The game wasn't even two weeks old yet!

Since then I swore to myself that when doing Main Story roulette, if someone was new, at least *I* would make it clear that I had no problem watching CSs, and as a tank would gladly wait for people to finish them before pulling. I enjoyed the story and I thought the CSs were well done, and I believe people should be able to enjoy them as well, no matter when they started playing.

I enjoy helping people and watching others enjoy themselves, which seems to be rare these days. Call me weird.

FFXIV was release august 2013, vote kick wasn't added till 2.1 which went live in december 2013, so how were you "kicked" a week and a half after it went live?

Woops, guess your right about that. I was still harassed and locked out of fights, etc. Basically, I wasn't able to experience any of the dungeon XD From my memory, I might as well have been kicked. I stand by the rest of what I said however.

Any time I'm going to do MS DR I grab a second tank to do it with me. If there is anyone new in the party, we wait for them to watch their cutscenes. If the others don't want to, they can feel free to do the bosses without tanks present.

Eventually this will stop being a big deal because the ilvl difference will be so absurd that DPS characters will be able to tank the bosses, but so far that doesn't seem to be the case.

I kinda of had that issue in CM, even trying to skip the cutscenes, I got separated and had no idea of the map layout. Cue idiot insulting me for "being level 50 and not knowing how to use a map."

I did actually have a very nice going off on a tank for running into the last boss of Toto-Rak when the two DPS were watching the cutscene and got locked out. He said they should've skipped it and should've been ready. Though I already had some issues with the tank anyways, like the two ACNs having to use Emerald Carby to keep me alive because he only held one at a time.

I am not a fan of demanding people skip CS. I skipped all up until after Praetorium because I was scared of being kicked. I regret it still.

This is a good reason to play a Tank/Healer; make them bend to your will.

SE can just solve this whole problem by making the CS in story mode dungeons unskippable!

You aren't allowed to because normal people are rude and inconsiderate and think that only their own selves matter. To them it is harassment to be doing anything that doesn't directly benefit them.

If one person is new, and there will be a Tomestone bonus for that, then the price for that bonus should be that all cutscenes are unskippable by everyone.
Only when a new person is present.
