If they didn't mention it then it won't be any time soon. They eagerly announced the last one telling us it would be sooner than we would have expected, and it wasn't.

Never works out like this outside of patch 2.16. It'll be in October. They've just been lax on the information overall.

You have to look at the fact that they are adding in the Halloween event as well. Why would they patch in the event by itself or after October? All Saints' Wake is usually mid October and ends November 1st.

Not sure what you mean about 2.16, but they said 2.3 would be "sooner than we expected" and it really wasn't. It was just more or less on time. I doubt they'd hold out information if it was any time soon.

Also they've patched plenty of seasonal events in on their own in the past, they aren't always (or even ever?) accompanying major patches.

I don't think it's a mystery, they stated over and over that they want to create chaos in the world in order to summon Zodiark, hell, even Bahamut was part of this plan, I wouldn't call that "quickly".

Their method is to cause chaos, but specifically what they will do to accomplish that in Ishgard is a mystery. We know they're controlling the archbishop, but we don't know what for (specifically what they're going to do with the archbishop to cause the chaos). There are many possible outcomes, all of which are speculation. I... don't really know what the last part of your post means - involving Bahamut somehow contradicts the last thing I said? Zodiark is literally the evil of the world and I don't think we'd be fighting something like that in 3.0, because where would you go from fighting darkness itself? The entire purpose of Lahabrea possessing Thancred in the 2.0 story is to use the Ultima Weapon/Gaius to revive Zodiark, but we saw how well that turned out. Why anyone thinks they'll succeed any time soon is a mystery to me.

Also, something of note, is that this:

is Zodiark. He can't be traditionally summoned like a Primal with Aether, he exists independently of that much like Hydaelyn. The purpose of the chaos is to revive Zodiark as he is currently weakened.

Bleh, disregard the first comment. "Sooner than expected" is simply how someone interprets Yoshi-P. He says "sooner than expected" as much as he says "please look forward to it." Could be sooner or later. The only one thing that he maintains is that he and his team will stick to a strictly 2-3 month schedule between major patches. Patch 2.4 dropping in November would be 4 months from July (2.3) and thus outside of his scope and vision.

Just because there's a lack of a statement stating that Patch X will come out on Y date, doesn't mean that they aren't sticking to their plan/promise.

Although to be honest you're probably right, they will stick to it on a technicality with it dropping on October 31st.
