Have you heard the term "keyboard warrior"? He has nothing to worry about in the fanfest even if something goes wrong with 2.4.
Personally I rather not have them talk about 2.4 in the fanfest when we already know most of it, I want to know about the expansion.

The first thing I wanna see out of fanfest is a beautiful CGI cutscene showing the Ascians summoning Zodiark as the big bad of 3.0.

I cannot wait for 2.4
Shiva, Rogue/Ninja, New dungeons, man, you just can't beat it.
I said it once and i'll saw it again.......Best mmorpg EVER !!

without forget that people that will go to the fanfest will be mostly interested into get information for the expansion ^^, it's a good way to avoid flame

The Halloween event since version 1 was always released on pretty much the same day and ended on the same day. It would seem strange to start a new patch only 1 to 2 days before NA fanfest though.
I don't recall Yoshi saying they were going to reveal the 2.4 patch release date at TGS.
Q: When are patch 2.38 and 2.4 planned to be released? Also, can you tell us anything about patch 2.4?
A: We're planning to release patch 2.38 around the time of Tokyo Game Show, so it'll be in about one month. We have a lot planned for Patch 2.4, and the addition of a new job makes it that much tougher, but the development team is working as hard as possible to ensure that you won't have to wait too long, so please hang in there.
In regards to details about patch 2.4, we'll definitely be implementing Shiva. During the Letter LIVE today we're sure to receive a lot of questions on a wide range of topics, and I think you might just get a few hints of what's to come in 2.4. Additionally, we're in the midst of the 14 hour live stream, and you never know when the camera might catch something. There's also a lot of the development team here with us today, so they might be able to share something with us as well. We're planning to begin releasing information on patch 2.4 around Tokyo Game Show, and we'll continue to release information from that point onward.
He just says that they would have 2.4 info at TGS which they did.

Q: You've already announced ninja to be a new DPS job, but are there any plans to add a new tank or healer job?
A: For the 2.0 series, only the rogue and ninja in patch 2.4 will be added. Please wait for information to be released in the future regarding other roles. I'm thinking it will be around October 17th...
He does hint that expansion news will be at the Fanfest.
These quotes are from the 9/11/2014 live letter.

we definitivly need a more clear big baddies... so far we have the...ascien that all look the same exept one that wear white. i'm sure we ask no one will remember them name, exept lahabrea because of the "fight". the big boss of the 2.0 was clear it was gaius! but from that... we don't have a clear boss in sights. only with the end of the 2.3 questline we can finally see someone that can be a boss, but i doubt it will be the big boss we wait for. it don't have the charisma of gaius or nael.
If they didn't mention it then it won't be any time soon. They eagerly announced the last one telling us it would be sooner than we would have expected, and it wasn't.
Won't be until November.
Never works out like this outside of patch 2.16. It'll be in October. They've just been lax on the information overall.
You have to look at the fact that they are adding in the Halloween event as well. Why would they patch in the event by itself or after October? All Saints' Wake is usually mid October and ends November 1st.

Not sure what you mean about 2.16, but they said 2.3 would be "sooner than we expected" and it really wasn't. It was just more or less on time. I doubt they'd hold out information if it was any time soon.
Also they've patched plenty of seasonal events in on their own in the past, they aren't always (or even ever?) accompanying major patches.
