1 se never said it was 850k what was said was 850 won't be enough.

secondly i would like you to find a post (cause i have no idea if it's true or not) where se said every player gets a personal house.

this was never (as far as i know) a feature toted as every single player gets one, only that personal housing was a thing.

I'm not particularly mad with housing anymore. I can afford my house once it depreciates enough. What I do take issue with is the sheer laziness of the developers; nine months and what have they done? Nothing. When it came to personal housing, all they did was flip a switch and let anyone buy a Free Company Estate. When it was frequently delayed I was at least hoping that they'd been working on something, but no. Remember when people were complaining that only Free Companies could purchase land in 2.1? What exactly stopped them from implementing this in 2.15? OK we'd still have supply issues, but at least I wouldn't be sitting here going "What the hell have you been doing these past months?".

If they designed it with "This is for the 1%" in mind, then they deserve all the hate they're getting, because that is stupid.

Absolutely everyone should have some form of housing, even if for the majority that ends up as Private Rooms (which is currently tied to Free Company Estates instead of Inns, so not adequate). If that were the case, Wards being for the 1% and Private Rooms for everyone else would be fine, but some how they spent nine months and didn't think to add Private Rooms to the Inn so everyone gets to furnish something.

From what they said, anyway, it's that players didn't generally have enough gil to afford it as individuals yet, and they didn't have the system capacity to handle it. They imply now that they're working on the capacity, and inflation and housing depreciation has taken care of the finance side.

I think it's possible that there was something else in the works that got scrapped for whatever reason (this sort of thing happens in development). But I suppose it's also possible that people interpreted the delay and some comments as "they're working on something big!" when that may not have ever been what they had in mind. Unless more is shared, I suppose we'll never know the full story.

The cost does not really bother me. I think a lot of people were under the impression that it would be a thing everyone could afford and take part in, not a select few people at endgame or otherwise financially well off. 1.5m after the price goes down is pretty do-able at level 50 though. I don't really feel like I was "lied" too as developers should be allowed to change their minds when developing a feature. It's a basic part of the development process. I rather doubt the developers had some malicious intent behind their reasoning.

The bigger problem is the limited space, which is always going to be an issue, and probably something the development team should have addressed *before* pushing housing live. I get a sense that they wanted to gauge how popular the feature actually was by play-testing their player base a bit so that they could figure out what needed to be done before they did something costly like purchase more servers. A lot of people on this forum like to point out that there would need to be hundreds of wards to accommodate every player, but what they often fail to address is that not every player is likely to take advantage of the housing system.

    ---

A think a good intermediary step would be: Allow the functions of gardening and chocobo stables to be utilized independently of an estate. There's a rather large unused stable areas in Limsa Lominsa and Girdania that could easily accommodate this feature. Send your chocobo there and have them get strong in a sort of pokemon day-care inspired area.

Allow personal rooms outside of free companies. Apartments or Moghouses that are just situated within the three main cities. Some of those unused doors could allow you to go to your apartment when you interact with them. Give it about three rooms, and allow one of those rooms to be a garden. I know that's *basically* what a moghouse is in FFXI, but I think this development team has a bad obsession with trying to make things unnecessarily different just for the sake of being unique (such as the retainer cluster**** that was the answer to auction houses back in 1.0, before they just basically gave us an auction house).

An apartment would be a cheap thing that everyone could afford from fairly early levels. Maybe it costs monthly rent to appease the "drain gil from the economies" obsession, maybe it requires level 30 to ensure that the player knows how to get money. But it would be a small little space for your player that is his and is generally what I think most people wanted when they heard about personal housing. If you *still* want a giant grandoise estate at level 50 you can absolutely go do that, but it's no longer a requirement to take advantage certain aspects of the game (chocobo raising, and gardening).
