Honestly I don't remember those either. What I DO remember is LSs sending out scouts to get ToDs for any NM that was actually worth anything and then gathering up, teleporting to the telepoint nearest to the NM, and then arriving as a large group and blanketing the area well before the next spawn to get the jump on them. No one HAD to instantly travel across Vana'diel for them because the only thing that was crazily contested endgame were HNMs and they had, like, 24 hour re-pop timers so they were pretty easy to pin down for the most part.

Basically what I'm saying is that if we're comparing this problem to FFXI it had similar problems but just required more planning due to its travel limitations.

Also to throw my stance out there I like the current system better too. I like to ride to places a lot but bunch of folks don't at all.

The current system is way way way way better. Period. It gives you choices and options. You CAN walk it off, or mount it off, or you CAN spend some money and save time. The choice is yours. The only thing that will stop you is if you have no gil, which in this game, that gives you plenty of "travel money" on your dailies, you should have enough for travel expenses. No anima system whatimajing that you must conserve and plan. I WANT TO PLAY NOW, NOW, NOW. Not an hour later when my anima is slowly replenishing.

DO NOT Miss Tanaka by one bit. Was so thrilled and almost die from overjoying when he finally left FFXI, and when Yoshi took over this game, it was like a miracle!! Look, he is no saint and he is not perfect, but he did far more good than Tanaka ever did. FFXI actually now shaped up to be a far superior game than what it was, faster traveling, better quality of life, options till kingdom comes when it comes to gears, and plenty of endgame activities that DOES NOT REQUIRE you camp-bot NM or offering sexual favor to your LS Leader in order to be bumped first on the list for receiving gears.

I read your name. Then I read this. Then I pause and wonder... XD

I liked the anima system as it allowed for a lot of teleporting options without forcing teleporting in at all times (benefit of that being you "can" travel fast without the world always feeling small). Sure there is an option not to use the system now too, but the flawed efficiency complex I'd argue most players has prevents us from not using it anyways. Efficiency complex = one way to play the game is really fun, one way is really effective most people would choose the later (making the option nearly a false option, flawed because a lot of times we don't appropriately perceive efficiency).

Even though WoW has a lot of teleporting options I liked its "real" travel more, kind of wished FF used it more (trains, caravans, boats, airships, shoopuff.. - doesnt have to be "15" minutes like FFXI, WoW stuck to smaller times like 1-3 mins).

Remember the Job quests back in 1.0 before they introduced Hamlet?
Most people lack of Anima back then. We have to choco to the next Quest/NPC location which is very far away. And there are many high level enemies in the road which can one-shot you, so set home point at the Aetheryte is a must.
That was very tired, but somehow I really enjoyed it and feel awesome because of the exciting adventuring!

Too bad though, I not longer have this kind of feeling in A Realm Reborn.

I don't know if those who really play 1.0 know this or not, but during the last half year before shutdown, SE did add a way to regenerate anima back,or should I say... buy some Anima. One of them is the Atomos that used to pop on camps. Thanks to them, I even have over-abundant animas and can just spend them at my leisure.

But then again... I guess some of you already quit 1.0 huh... lol

Then why don't you just, I dunno, teleport with gil anyway? Buying anima would be the same damn thing.

Well, the last few months weren't really representative of the rest of V1 as a whole. I mean, you didn't often wake up with relics under your pillows typically.

except it wasnt. it was all good till you had to get to the far side of coerthas from LL an you had no tele-juice an you aint got no homies online to take you there. an for a longtime in early 1.0 we didnt even have chocos an we literally had to hoof it everywhere when we ran out of tele-juice. An there was no sprint either.

buying? I only need to kill Atomos or zerg the minion that Atomos maw spitted out. There's no "buying" at all. lol

There's also other means of replenishing anima, although I have trouble remembering them. Think hamlet defense also has something to do with it too.

The "relic" under your bed doesn't count, since it only happened AFTER 1.0 final save. Think I would've carried all that bed c-"hecked" into 2.0, didncha? lol
