read this above quoteIts not even the free PVP this game is lacking. Its that feel of danger, exploration and adventures (we are adventurers, aren't we?).The dungeons are just corridors. The zones are so safe, it's almost impossible to die unless you choose to. You can teleport wherever you want, and even if you run it shouldn't take you longer than 2 minutes to cross a zone. Rivalry and competition between guilds are literally non-existant. Remember the games where being in a guild still meant something? Now its nothing more than a chat channel. Don't get me wrong, I love this game. But yes, its a carebear MMO.
A PvP only server would be kind of cool actually, for people who want to work them self toward the best gears and to be the best can go to PvP server. And for other who just want casual and PvE can be on PvE server.
This.
I'm kind of getting tired of the concept that every MMO has to cater to every taste. I would actually like to see each specialize its niche more rather than try and funnel all crowds into the same game (which ends up being a major force pushing those like me away).
Granted I'm just kind of bitter at this point that there isn't really anything I enjoy out there, and any time something releases that is at least a step in that direction, there are constant cries to ''MAKE IT HARDCORE!' or 'MAKE IT COMPETITIVE/PvP-CENTRIC', despite the fact that pretty much 99% of the genre caters to you already if you want that experience. :-/

This. You travel in a group or you don't travel.
Also, pray your group is better armed than the other group who is hunting you.
I'm bitter at the overall conflict between hardcore and casual, as I find things in both camps I love, and things in both camps I don't like, along with animosity when I suggest something from one or the other.This.

I hear constantly that this is the easiest of mmos, yet the community, as well as my time constraints, sure doesn't make it so.

Please no, no, no, NO.
I find solace in FFXIV away from the competitive gaming. I use to play LoL before 2.0 came out (still played more after), only making me toxic and turning me into a table flipper.
I don't even want to touch PVP in 2.0.
To be honest, I don't think you will ever find a server-wide community focused on PvP in a MMORPG. That's because RPG is not PvP-focused, but rather has player-versus-player as a side activity.
There are plenty of online videogames focused on PvP. War games, shooters, and straightforward PvP games as well. People who choose to play RPGs are ideally looking for stuff specific of an RPG game, and to expect them to put all those other aspects (character progress, armor upgrade, questing, exploration, roleplaying, etc.) is probably a lost cause, as well as something a little naive. I recommend you look for PvP-based online videogames, if that's what you're really enjoying.
