Interesting... again, my stance on fanservice is not against it, I'm very much for it (can we PLEASE get a Yuna outfit and for males as well already PLEASE! I know I know, would never hold up in lore lol... a boy can dream.) Just some things I see and some I don't, but it's all dependent on if the lore will support it or not, atm unless a new FF7 game came out I don't see Cloud specifically coming to Eorzea for anything related to the original FF7. Just my thoughts.

I approve this idea!!! Heck it is such brilliant ideas to bring many elements from past FF branded games. COPY ALL, STEAL ALL, just make this game WONDERFUL ALL FANTASY games. Bring all the vanity costumes, cute knick knack, minions, everything from ALL FF games.

You own the brand, it is something that NO OTHER games can have, by all means, OWN THESE, give us something to scream and cream our panties with.

This is so wrong! on so many levels. Many people who play this game, come for the lore, the storyline, and for the FF-esque of it all.... otherwise people would just go back to other MMO's or something. THE only reason aside from my friends, that I play this game is for the storyline first and foremost. So don't start with more generalizing in this thread.... because not everyone is like you.

I play the game for the story and the lore. While I do like to see nods to past games, I don't want them blatantly just tossed in. Stuff that is adapted for FFXIV but with a nod to old games works great for this game, but having something like Cloud's bike just seems wrong.

I'd go a step further and say add more vanity items from previous FF's. I see the Final Fantasy MMOs as the perfect place to celebrate every game in the final fantasy series.

You people don't understand something so simple.

FFXIV is a game that has its own story, it's own atmosphere/theme, and is trying to stand (mostly) on its own.

Throwbacks and nods to tiny bits from other games is fine, as long as they fit in with the atmosphere of this game, even if they have to be tweaked a little bit. You can't just take a standalone story and after a year, start piling on aspects from every other story in the franchise. Not only would that be a terrible and lazy development process, but that would kill the feeling of this game.

That would be like Lahabrea pulling back his hood and revealing he was Sephiroth the entire time. Sure, you children who have no idea how to make a cohesive story or world would squeal and circlejerk each other over your silly fandom, but that would make the story in this game completely shit.

This is a game that has it's own story and lore. Please stop trying to shovel your stupid ideas into it. If it doesn't fit with the atmosphere of the game, it doesn't belong.

In the 2.0 development stages (A/B) I was against fanservice because I wanted to see ARR be more of a FFXI stand alone, but I've come to terms that idea of ARR being only ARR is not going to happen lol - too many people want it for Yoshida to consider my against as meaningful.

So instead I've moved on (lol, first world problems), I'm just here saying that I could see a way for the bike to come into ARR XD.

Technology wise we can do it, perhaps with a bit more time to allow more development for our areas but I could see it. I personally hope for a midgard / zanarkand / (FFXII,FFXIII,FFXV, ect, ect) city, not every city just at least one.

Lore wise as I said a while ago I'd rather see us get blueprints or see something like Cid (ARR) being inspired to build it from a photograph/blueprint/seeing cloud with it. Since it would be awkward to just get handed the actual bike, rather we build our own with inspiration of the original Fenrir, so Fenrir Mark 2 cause Cid. . lol. Also the building part of the quest could be a good way for SE to make getting the bike harder than doing three fates and calling it GG.

I don't want everything casually dumped in Eorzea. I'll take the occasional nod or gift, but I want this world to be developed far more than I want to see stuff from an old game. Eorzea's pretty interesting. It has potential to be fondly regarded without using references as a crutch.
