yeah no joke, 2 clicks to engage. It's as horrible as it sounds *steals your ps3 controller O.O*Well, I didn't try much on mouse. I was referring to controller. Do you just have to click twice to actually engage?
Maybe it should have separate ways of doing it with mouse/key board vs. controller. Highlight once with controller, click again to engage vs. highlight once with left click, engage with right click, and skip directly to right click to engage if you need to.
Actually now that I think of it, Why don't they change it to where, if you are in active mode, by left clicking a target you instantly engage? When you are in passive mode, you have to click twice to indicate you are actually wanting to engage with the target?
*grabs a dev* yeah this guy right here! Listen to this guy!
controller here.. no complaints.. I've never touched my mouse playing a FF MMO.. EVER.. even when i played with just the keyboard..
I have the feeling that engaging an enemy right now seems like a BETA feature, since there isn't exactly a command or an input saying that you should engage, your character simply does it because he's standing close to the target in active mode instead of receiving an initial input from the player to start attacking (like FFXI did, the menu had an ATTACK option, then you would start attacking)
The lalafell a few posts above mine had a good comparison to FFXI's battle system. In the grand scheme of things, it's very similar to ffxi's system with 1 difference. By clicking the target once you will highlight the target, by clicking it twice you will engage in combat. It's the same thing as FFXI, you highlight the target, then you pressed attack to do exactly the same you would have if you had just clicked twice.I have the feeling that engaging an enemy right now seems like a BETA feature, since there isn't exactly a command or an input saying that you should engage, your character simply does it because he's standing close to the target in active mode instead of receiving an initial input from the player to start attacking (like FFXI did, the menu had an ATTACK option, then you would start attacking)
you're ALMOST right but you missed one VERY important thing. The lalafell a few posts above mine had a good comparison to FFXI's battle system. In ff11 you would securely lock onto your target once you click "attack". As of now that is not in the game, and is a very important feature.
Except there's no Attack button. The lalafell a few posts above mine had a good comparison to FFXI's battle system. In the grand scheme of things, it's very similar to ffxi's system with 1 difference. To engage in a fight with a lock, first I have to:
Target the enemy, Press "Confirm" button, Press "Active Mode Button" and press "Lock Button"
I know there's a workaround if you just use any generic action to start a fight with the enemy, where the sequence of actions above is shortened, but that is not a proper system. It doesn't look good and feels like something that hasn't been thought through.
I don't have a problem with it, but it just doesn't feel right, even though it works...
EDIT: And if you forget the lock, you might just end up roaming everywhere without facing your target.
forgive me if im wrong but i just press active mode and it auto locks on my target , so i only need 1 button pressed to engage , or maybe i just to used to pressing r3 for lock on,,, not sure .Except there's no Attack button.
