I'm kind of here as well. I already had an FC mansion (almost entirely to myself for now). I bought a small house as well. But I'm not happy with the system they gave us.There was no option for this and I dunno if it matters, but I bought a house, a personal room and I have access to everything in my FCs hall. I'm not happy that personal housing doesn't have their own wards. And it was scary when there was a possibly that I'd miss out on buying a house once the servers went up, but otherwise I'm satisfied with the game in this area. :3
Still, personally, I'm pretty well off in regards to the housing situation.
Not really if you sum up the choices directly opposed to that one.
30% said they have bought a house.
44% said that they want a house but they either coudn't afford them or weren't any left.
The other choices are not relevant because they lack the interest of owning a house.
Ohh and 200 votes is too few to make a static....you'd need around 1000 votes to make a reliable trend
YES, REALLY. You can't put up separate options then add them up together and pretend it's the same. Blame it on poor choice of wording from the poll's creator.
You are on to something, though. There is indeed no way that this poll can be in any way, shape or form, reliable. First of all, only a small fraction of the playerbase reads and posts of the forum. There simply is no way you can get reliable data for a poll this way.
None of the available options suit my thoughts on personal housing. Some of them come close, but they do not mirror my thoughts/observations on the matter.
Simply put, even if I wanted one, the availability of plots is extremely low. The majority of the plots were purchased within the first 12 hours of 2.38's release. Though mostly small plots, by the time that I had logged off last night there were only a small handful of large plots left. All of the small/medium plots were gone.
So if one were to wait until the prices lowered, the chances of any plots being in the pre-existing wards would be next to none. And the process would repeat itself with each new ward(s) added.
And, from my speculations: the only way to dye your chocobo is if you are in an FC with a house or have your own house. But when there is no plots available... Well, it kind of sucks for those who are not in an FC for one reason or another.

I LIKE the fence. I get 2 groups to laugh at then.
I bought a small house on release of the patch. I knew from the start that the way that housing had turned out was going to cause a lot of drama, even before I started reading about it on the forums, but I wanted a house and I could afford it, and so I bought one. This does not mean that I am happy with the system SE has implemented for personal housing. While it doesn't affect me directly, I understand and sympathize with the rage people are expressing.
One thing that I DON'T understand or sympathize with, though, are folks that are enraged that they'll never be able to afford a personal mansion. This somewhat boggles my mind; you are ONE PERSON. A small house is more than large enough to accomodate one person. The only possible justification for one person to own a mansion is as an ostentatious show of personal wealth, just as in real life - and if you're trying to ostentatiously show off your wealth, why would you be asking for a discount? The more expensive the better!
It needs "I want personal housing to be instanced areas where we can grow and develop our housing e.g. small to large.

I don't see an option for, "I want personal housing but can't imagine ever affording any size."
Good poll. Glad we can actually see some numbers.
I bought a small house on coeurl for 2.4mil. This was about 12 hours after servers went up. There were many in new wards as well.
If I didn't have friends/FC/static, I'd transfer in a heartbeat to take advantage of those prices and availability. Well, and there's the problem of very low gil transfer limits...
