Thing is, this is Japan, and they dont follow the same mindset we do in the US.Asking for resignation is really a bit too much. The producer made a wrong decision regarding the personal housing system, this is pretty much obvious to everyone. I just hope the development team see that they really made a bad move and start to think of measures to fix things out. That's what I really rope from the people who are in charge of this game that I came to like this much.
If Yoshi loses enough respect (aka "face") in the public eye, SE would not hesitate to can him if he didnt step down in shame on his own.
SE needs to preserve its image, and if Yoshi tarnishes that, his career is pretty much over.
When its not just the US players looking for blood in the water.... you know he screwed up big time, and the Japanese players are apparently pissed off to no end atm.
I'm really frustrated with all of this personal housing fiasco and agree with almost all of your points. I was really "looking forward to it", even saved a bit of money to buy a small housing and saved furnitures to use on it. I understand the player's rage over this one, I just can't think this off an legit argument to ask someone to go and loose his job, even more as I see the work the guy and development team made to bring a dead game to live again. I just don't want my rage to blind me out of the good things from before ( and its not easy, this personal housing is really table-flipping ).
I only hope and want that they take things into consideration and fix things out, and see that all the rage can't go unnoticed and that they do need to take care of this issue. No one is happy with the system as it is now. =[
And yes, the system he dropped at us is faaar from exciting, really.
But in Japan.... they'll scuttle someone's entire career for life over something like this if the PR backlash is loud enough.
Thats the mindset and how they are brought up. Its been that way for centuries. We may not understand it, but to them, its the norm.
I'd be amazed if Yoshi hasnt already had a meeting or two with his bosses where he's bowing as far over as he can begging for forgiveness for the bad PR that SE is getting over this. His career could be on the line.
Time will tell.....
I really don't think a resignation is called for, or a good idea.
XD I admit that I am displeased with housing, but look at this from a sales/corporate perspective: The headline will be Another Lead Man Out at Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIV. Even if the playerbase is well and truly furious with Yoshida and the rest of Dev Team, a resignation would be catastrophic PR-wise.
Not to mention unwarranted, imo.
The problem is that resurrection is more Frankenstein's creature than Lazarus...
We've patched up the rotting corpse with parts of other corpse but know we need make it walk... and the logic is: we need a heart? put a bike pump, it's the same!
*rests hand on chin*
Humanity is most closely related to sharks, I think. Toss a drop of blood in the water, and watch the frenzy begin.
Quite disturbing, really. >_>
I'm very sad about this situation myself.... Why can't they just make personal housing quest-based and instanced?
I remember in FFXI they made an update where you could invite people into your moghouse, so I figured they would just do that here as well.
I like how the dev post mentions that if they had put the prices lower that it would have made RMT problems worse... I would think that if you make prices impossible to pay that people would end up resorting to buying gil lol.
get over yourselves.
