Just came to add my disappointment to the pile. Love the game and the world, been playing for 4 years now (has it been that long?).

The price tag of 850k would have been manageable. Money is not normally an issue for me in-game, so 1-2M available for a house purchase seems reasonable. But 4M (Hyperion) is absolutely not a reasonable amount for an individual to blow in a single purchase.

The most disappointing aspect of this whole debacle is the shortage of supply. Even if I had 4M sitting around, there is no way I'd be logging in at ~3am US Central time to rush to purchase a house. I'm sorry, just no.

The exorbitant price and the lack of supply (<0.3% of the subscriber base, based on rough numbers) just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I would rather a properly-executed feature than one that's basically a beta test. (Maybe that's what this patch was.. a beta test of housing?).

Be sure to hit LIKE on any comment you agree with, because the powers that be need this feedback.

Agreed. Most people are simply crying over the price. I'm more surprised about the lack of available plots. If housing had been less than 1 mil, they would've sold out in 10 min. But honestly, people need to chill out about this. It's not as if they won't lower prices or add more wards ASAP.

People are crying over the prices because of the disparity. The smalls are 4 mil, ok I can live with that. Almost. The next smallest is 35. That's a heck of a lot more. AND all the small plots are gone, on every server that has even a moderately active population. There's nothing left on Balmung. So while I had the money to buy a small house, I do not have the opportunity nor am I likely to even when 2.4 hits and these "doubled" wards.

And that's because I work on patch day, and it's guaranteed that the 100 or so small plots that will be available will be taken by the time I log on.

As far as people chilling out - it's a pattern of releasing content that a handful of people can enjoy. It's not good business. It's not going to keep people subscribed. XI's grind model worked because everyone could hop on the wheel. There was very little content that players were logistically blocked from by the game's design itself.

    That's the difference.

You know I'm getting more and more curious as to what people are spending their money exactly? You don't need gil for end game except for repair so it's not a truly need item. The only people that actually need gil is crafters, everything else just luxury. Also I'm worried about the whole me me me idealism of it all. You're not putting in the work that other did to earn enough gil to buy a house yet you want the participation award just for showing up. Maybe I'm just old but it's a scary social direction.

Yes, 2 more wards sucks and Yoshi-P admits that. But I also understand why he did it. Personal housing has been pushed back and pushed back. He basically sad sorry it's taking so long, here is what we have right now and we are giving more next month. I"m sure the one who bought a house today are happy with that choice.

I don't think its entirely just the sticker shock of the cost that's driving the flames here. It's the fact that a vast majority of players feel that housing is a fundamental right that all players should have access to own regardless of standing or funds. It's just something expected and it wasn't exactly presented up until this point as being anything less. Now those few whom don't care so much about the situation, try inserting another desirable or convenience item in place of housing. What if you were not allowed any mounts in the game at all and had to compete in an 80 million gil auction against a swarm of other players and groups to buy the only available chocobo. But you may end up with a sickly and ugly one you didn't really want that is if they weren't already all sold out. What if you were not allowed to have any retainers under the same circumstances? That's how important and essential a home is to a good deal of players. I think the design team may have also misjudged this importance as well. It's not entirely too late, there's some fixes that can be made. I hope they had a plan B in store, this is really terrible PR to have right in the middle of a major publicity event.

There are a number of activities in-game that can't be accomplished without a fair amount of investment.

It probably would have been better to lock the personal housing behind older content like LotA or EX Primals.

Of course there's still the matter of space

I am fairly disappointed too. Yeah some people have tons and tons of gil, but that doesn't mean most people do. That's why statistically averages are affected by outliers. Even though its crazy to expect an individual to pay the same amount as a group, the lack of space is worse. 70-100 small houses added total for one of the highest population worlds. If most people are going to buy something it will be a small house. Its silly to promise personal things like houses, af dying, etc. but then make it nearly unattainable by the average person.

Don't blame Yoshi. I read the live letters and they are fraught with things that I'm sure he hasnt really been briefed on. In the 9/11 live letter he told everyone that the Tokyo Game Show and patch 2.38 were about a month away. It turned out to be less than a week. If he cant get a patch date that's less than a week away correct how can you expect to rely on anything they tell you in the live letters.

The cost is ridiculous, but even that I'm less annoyed about. Its that 1) its a very scare resource and 2) I'm now competing with FCs for it. What in the ever loving hell...seriously. Now I'm looking at waiting until 2.4 drops (whenever that is) for the ~chance~ to buy a house before everyone else scoops them up and we have to wait months again.

All desire to play this game left me the minute I read the patch notes this morning.
Just wanted to add this is exactly how i feel.
