Plans do change, but that's not the problem. When you spend so long hyping how something is going to be and then release something completely different to your audience without so much as a word, you've screwed up. What SE is giving us is the exact opposite of how they said personal housing is going to work. No, no company has to communicate with their customers, but communication is important if you want to build trust with your subscribers and keep them coming back. If something happened and they had a change of plans they should have said something or just delayed the system until they could get it closer to what they wanted in the first place instead of just giving us a bastardization of their vision and hoping we wouldn't notice.

Speaking for myself, my disappointment is less about their implementation of personal housing itself and more a mild fear of this type of thing becoming commonplace.

They' don't really have to do anything. That's the luxury of the thing.

So, basicly what I'm seeing is, if Square Enix posted two days ago "Oh, change of plan, we're simply using the same wards, as a result the pricing will be the same".


THE FURY WOULD BE QUELLED.

The result would still be the same, and people would still have to deal with it. The only problem coming up here is, the plan changed, it was implemented differently and people have to deal with it on a slightly shorter notice.


We don't know when this decision was made, or when it was adjusted.

They're using the same system as FC housing, just with seperate permissions. For the most part, it's fairly obvious they just copy-pasted most of it.
That long response Yoshi made was pretty obviously typed out either right before notes or before that. Point of the matter is, if you're going to release content you know is not originally planned- why release it at all? If this backlash wasn't known ahead of time he needs to pay closer attention to what's going on.

My argument is, this was clearly changed at either the last minute, or in such a rushed way that they simply didn't have the time to work out a proper response of update to the community in time.
Or they simply forgot. This may sound hard to believe, but they're human being working on a strict deadline and they get flustered and worked up as the rest of us do and things get left behind or forgotten.



In this case, a letter written by Yoshi-P was most likely drawn up at the last minute as a way to explain and appease to players on the situation.




My problem isn't on what happened, or why they forgot. It's the fact that players are taking this as a personal offence, when most likely it was simply an error on their part due to the way it was implemented.

People are taking this WAY too seriously, as its going to cause grievous harm to their experience.

There's still plenty of time before 2.4 rolls around, for the time it took to fill 6 wards on every server (even populated ones), there will be plenty of time to adjust to this new change.




TL;DR

People are getting mad, and self-entitled.

"They said it was going to be this price, BUT IT CHANGED!"

When it really doesn't matter at the end of the day, this is the price it's going to be, this is how it's implemented and this is how you're going to have to deal with it for now.
