Atma: True or False?

I've farmed 120 atmas and all I can say is that all of mine were obtained from golded, successful FATEs. Most of the FATEs I did fell in that category, so my experience isn't exactly indicative of anything, but over all the time farming there were still quite a few that didn't fall in that category. I just never happened to get an atma from any of them.

What I am interested in knowing is if you have different odds (presumably lower chances) of getting an atma if you don't win or if you get a lower grade.

I'd like if anyone can confirm that you can get an Atma on a FAILURE.

Yes, exactly the point of this thread. I'm in the same boat as you. I'm trying to get another Atma weapon and I'm finding that there are sometimes 1 or 2 people or even no others at all to help with these F.A.T.E's. Sure, I can solo one here or there, but the problem is that while i'm solo'ing it, there are other F.A.T.E's that are timing out and I don't get a chance to participate at all.

This is definitely something that I'm trying to find out also. Which is why I've been asking for those with experience to share as much information as possible.


For several hours today I have been farming for an Atma in Eastern Thanalan. I'm basically tossing a single shield lob at a mob and then running away. Sometimes I get Silver and a Failure and sometimes I get a Bronze with a Success. But so far zero Atma's. I'm still trying to encourage others to post a screen shot or video of an Atma being obtained when the situation was not Gold and Successful.
