I wouldn't say that they eat the necklace since you can get it to show back up after taking the slime off your head, maybe they are just chewing on it.

Tbh though I think it was just an oversight by SE that when they made the hat/helmet that it got set as the helmet type that hides the necklace like some others that cover the neck do.

Let him have his chew toy! He is too cute to say no to!

He gives it back all nice and shiny when done, though it's a bit sticky...
