As for the keeping quiet and no pre patch notes, it is a smart thing on their part. So far the pre patch notes were easy to figure out, what to buy or do before the servers went down. Another reason if I recall correctly was that Yoshi said there would be major changes to the economy in patch 2.4. Patch 2.38 might start to push the economy in this new direction such as the way its handling desynth materia, new type of materia needed to continue relic line. I spend most of my day crafting and as new mid and main patches come out I watch closely to see where the next gil rush comes from. I will say that my only concern for the patch is that the way they account for gil on the servers will leave housing out or reach for most players for some time as happened with the cost of FC housing at the start of 2.1.Remember that SE is planning 4 years out on the game, so with a long term plan housing will be a big investment. Second SE needs gil sinks in the game. The personal housing will be used as a gil sink and a large one if I had my guess.
It better not be just individual pots. The gardening system is too dependent on cross-pollination for that. I could see them adding small rectangular two-patch planters, but that's as small as they can go without ruining the system.
im sure there is other reason for the silence but Yoshi says in right here in the last live letter... (talking about the wards NOT personal housing)
"...but the issue of how many plots to add will be under discussion until right up to the last minute."
"We're currently looking into exactly how much we can increase the amount of land with our current resources and we'll be doing this right up to the last minute."
and im just guessing for this part but whatever effects FC wards might also effect personal housing wards (i don't think it will be instanced).
Can't put out information that will change hour to hour right? Hence no notes.
"Try not. Do or do not. There is no try."
Which, once again, would screw over the large part of the playerbase that isnt walking around with 50-100 million Gil in their pocket.
SE keeps adding things for the filthy rich, so it would be nice to see something everyone can partake of for a change.
But this is SE..... and I have very little faith in them unfortunately.
A bed this small is laughable, and is already borderline breaking the system. Anything less than 4 patches in a personal housing garden would be cause for outrage. Growing this stuff is already time consuming as all hell. In a 2 patch bed, the first seed planting has 0% chance of cross-pollination. I can only imagine the amount of forum rage when someone went to cross their first glazenut seed, and RNG laughed at them and gave them no seed with the 2nd plant, effectively making said person either start over from the beginning (3weeks of grow time) or purchase new seeds (good luck with pricing) to forego the time sink.
Grade 3 Thanalan soil gives a very high chance to cross seed, but it is not guaranteed.
*disclaimer - didn't mean to sound rude to you in particular, but 2 patch planters sound just as bad as individual pots![]()
in before .... Reselling Large Housing Plots for sale XD...

I do hope they limit gardens to 4 plots (and allow intercrossing) to keep FC housing somewhat relevant.
