They are not new even if they got that green sprout on them. These are smurfs trolling you and getting under your skin on purpose. Whatever their agenda, these are trolls trying to ruin the game for the new players.
People are mean and immature because ... its the internet and people feel empowered to be asses by anonymity since there are pretty much no real repercussions for such behavior.
People should practice common decency and respect when dealing with others, period. It doesn't matter if it is in real life or virtually online or whatever.
As for being new to the game or anything really, part of it is on other people to be understanding and helpful, however part of it is on you as well. You need to be proactive in trying to understand and learn about what you are new to.
Tell people in a dungeon if you are new or not comfortable with something, people will be more likely to be patient in helpful whereas waiting for people to find this out due to a wipe or something is much more likely to result in people getting pissed off at you. Also, pay attention to the job and class quests as they are often trying to teach you something about how to play your class/job.
Just as people should put in effort to help and teach new players so that they will hopefully improve, the new player should also put in effort to seek out information and learn in order to better themselves. This is not a one-way street and requires give and take from both sides.
Coming here to the forums and asking questions is a step in the right direction and I hope you find a lot of helpful advice.
P.S. this is generalized advice and not aimed solely at the op as this topic seems to pop up so often.

I feel so bad for ppl having issues like this in dungeons.
I never had any ppl calling me anything mean and my main is a healer. I messed up a lot in dungeons.
Still remember wiping my party 4 time at last boss in stone vigil. But they didnt complain. They just gave me some advice and we finqlly beat it.
I was really bad at new things in the beginning.
Now about 6 months later I can learn new fights really fast and im very rarely a burden to my group.
You will learn too and dont mind the meanies. Everyone should get to be new and mess up. Thats how you learn. By doing mistake!
Yeah i always say hello to players on every run i do and try to explain stuff if people are new. Those that do not reply are usually the know it all and get upset over silly stuff.
Pre-Level 50 gear is important but not as much as end game dungeons. Gear also does not = skill, seen far too many ilv 100-110 players that do not know how to play their class (tanks mainly) and then rage because they lost agro. So in all i agree some people just need to chill at times, unless of course a dps attacks before tank can get agro, seen that happen a fair amount of times too.
Maybe in your experiences but 99 % of the time, no it's so called "veterans" that whine

This reminds me about maybe a month or two after lauch SE sent notices to chatboxes (similar to maintenance notice) telling us to be friendly and build a better community, etc.
They could probably do that everytime we log in or every once in a while. Not sure at how effective it was, but I suppose being reminded to be friendly towards each other is nice.
I don't believe you, sounds to me your on the defensive because see people saying older players are being jerks so you made up that example. There is no need to be defensive about being older player when some older players are getting rightly called out on their actions, it is some and not all being referred to.
Your example should probably be more like new player dies, this causes wipe and the older players offered their advice filled with insults and name calling and that is why the new player got upset. As I said I have never seen or heard of anyone else other than you claiming it is the new players who all tend to be the ones being jerks/rude so sorry I just do not believe you. Also keep in mind when talking about older players being rude we are not referring to only people who have been around since version 1.0, what each person considers an older player or vet varies per person but generally I consider someone who has reached 50 on at least one class to be such personally.
I think some people just can't accept that newbies can and will be rude sometimes....not sure why. I'm not trying to take away the "victim card" from them, I'm simply saying they don't always have the right to play it. If they want to be treated nicely, they should also act nicely. It's not a one way street here. There's been lots of examples of newbies being mean in dungeons posted on this forum.
Also helps to be in a good free company, one that is filled with nice people who are willing to help not just in offering advice but also helping you complete quests and dungeons. That way if having hard time with something like parties or DF groups then you can rely on them to help you complete the place need to do.
What is obvious from the way you communicate here, is that you do NOT know how to give acceptable advice to anyone. You may think you are polite, but you are NOT.
Your hatred for new players is coming thru loud and clear. You want to treat them with contempt, but unfortunately, the rest of us strong rejects to your mean-spirited ways.
