Novus isn't casual though. It's a massive time and gil sink that doesn't do anything except encourage RMT activity by putting a literal price on an ideal end-game weapon. While I understand the desire for some cool fights, keep in mind that the relic weapons are supposed to be fairly accessible to all players ranging from super-casual to SCoB-hardcore. If we implemented something like the original quest's requirement of "defeat Ifrit, Garuda, and Titan on Hard Mode", wouldn't it have to become something like "clear Leviathan, King Mog, and Ramuh on Extreme Mode", and end up gating the relic's progression behind high-level content that many casual players are not going to be clearing for a long time?
Tome weapons are the casual weapons of this cycle of content in the post Hunt era..

Not surprised if fates will be involved yet again, but why the obsession with fates on SE's part, it's rather annoying at this point.
I sure hope no crafting will be involved either as some of us absolutely do not like that stuff.

I like the idea of adding Hunts to the next stage. B ranks since they're worthless now except for the weekly. Although, that would be difficult for them to get it right without making it another zerg-rage fest like Hunts are today.
I'm wondering if desynthesis may play some role in the next step. In the first steps of the original relic, we had to get materia melded onto a base relic and turn it in. This meant we had the option to buy this off the market board, or had to go look for a crafter to meld it for us (if we didn't have the crafter ourselves). There might be a step where we have to get a high level desynthesis crafter break down specific items for a chance to obtain something rare to meld/ or turn in for this next relic step?
If that is the case, then the prices for these rare materials will make the materia prices look like a joke.

no desynth please because that would leave out the player base that do not/like to craft, would be rather silly should they implement it

There's Chocobo leveling... why not force people to have max level chocobos? That would be a nice huge grind/gil sink. Yes, that sounds like something the design team would think was a good idea.

The Zodiac Questline will probably lead into going to Eureka, and getting a new set of different named items, and starting over from Zenith, etc. (Eureka's version of Zenith, etc. So not actually farming atmas, myths, etc.) We don't know what Novus+1 will really be until the patch hits tomorrow after maint.

I really doubt it'll involve EX primals. There are a lot of people who find them to be too difficult, even with echo buff (especially EX Titan).
