While I understand the desire for some cool fights, keep in mind that the relic weapons are supposed to be fairly accessible to all players ranging from super-casual to SCoB-hardcore. If we implemented something like the original quest's requirement of "defeat Ifrit, Garuda, and Titan on Hard Mode", wouldn't it have to become something like "clear Leviathan, King Mog, and Ramuh on Extreme Mode", and end up gating the relic's progression behind high-level content that many casual players are not going to be clearing for a long time?

Remember, when Animus -first- came out there were far fewer ways of obtaining Myth tomes and those ways gave much fewer. Back when they were first implemented, you could do all five roulettes and only get ~450 mythology tomes. This is what gave rise to the Hardflox speedruns.
