There's also little reason for players at end-game to want PvP equipment obtainable from Frontlines. I think the battlefield control is pretty fun too, but it doesn't help many players progress or get glamours, so it only appeals to the niche group who are already done with or uninterested in progression.

True, if there was some reward for PvP besides just tomes and a few glamours I'd probably be more inclined to try it. I'd love to have some of the PvP abilities in PvE. That said, I actually like the fact that it is optional. I have plenty of other things to work on in game.
