Oddity with level 1 Hempen gear

As mentioned above, you were probably looking at a Hyur Highlander. It looks like that on them.
On every other race, it looks different. Lalafel for example (Below).

The hempen underwear are from 1.x
During 1.x they were not only gender locked, but also race locked. With ARR the race lock got removed, but they still keep their different looks for each race (and tribe like Highlander).

in an attempt to recreate the glitch i got an error in game

i glamored a Hempen Undershit made by a hyur highlander friend of mine
when i glamored it to my daystar robe i got this message:
Glamours are unavailable due
to area or class
restrictions

this is where i give up and walk away. you know you should stop when you break something.

Almost sounds like you're talking about hyur specific equipment. That's the only reason I can see for you not being able to use it as glamour (since judging by your pic you're a roegadyn). Unless you grabbed a female one by mistake - they are still separated by gender.

OK, above is what ive been seeing on males,
to the left is what the hempen gear has always looked like for me on ALL RACES
to the right is the new hempen gear ive been seeing since patch 2.2

This isn't a glitch, each gender/race has a different 3D Model provided for each of them.


In the image you provided.

The character on the left is a "Midlander Hyur" the one on the right is a "Highlander Hyur". They're considered two difference 'races' essentially, although they share some similar traits they're two completely different things.

It changes for every race, including Roegadyn Males, try it on your own character and you'll see.


Just like in this image from 1.23, the Highlander featured, is wearing the hempen undershirt.
