I feel it's strangely sad that the people playing a game could be so entirely unaware of how ridiculously successful it is.

As someone who is 25 big fish from completing their fishing log, I disagree. Bait only goes so far depending on the fishing hole and there's NO skill involved when it comes to hooking a fish. On straight catches, I just let fish get away until I get the epic pull animation and then it's pure RNG whether it gets caught. Food does nothing on these fish because they're clearly capped on % to catch for a majority of them (specifically the item desynth ones). It needs a major overhaul to be considered fun in my book, otherwise you're just playing a glorified slot machine which to me is no fun.

Part of the reason that the game is successful is because people gave it a chance to be. That is something kind of rare these days given how toxic things have become in the AAA industry.

Read what I said again, I addressed that. I specifically said I only used Titan as an example because its a fight most already know and that I didn't advocate for it specifically to be changed.
Besides, what I said doesn't preclude DPS checks. I don't mind them. In fact other games have done similar things to what I suggested, an enrage timer. An AoE mountain buster would be death to most parties. -Some- might be able to pull through it... maybe.. but unlikely, but there is always a possibility. Just in previous games, even after the mob enrages, sometimes you can get it down still.
But again, I don't see anything wrong with the Titan fight as it is now. But just used it as an example.
