Atma farming 850+ hours! Is it alright or this game is unfairly broken?

While I personally don't believe the OP either, you guys are aware that a lot of people create forum alts because they don't want strangers searching around in their achievement history trying to disprove everything they say?

Never met anyone willing to go as far as obtain an Atma weapon on an Alt. and have as many achievements as they do currently. Just to post on the forums anon. from their main.

We're aware, however the OP responded by saying, not that this was an alt, but that the game didn't record his fates accurately and that he kept dying and asked us how he gets that fixed as well.

I think my guild lead is doing that right now, albeit I am not exactly sure why she completely rerolled.

@Fate deaths: Well I died a handful of times trying to solo FATEs in outer LaNoscea. Didn't observe whether the game only tracks successful fates but it could be possible though.

EDIT: Just looked at the achievement wording: "Successfully completed FATES."
So the game does not track failed FATEs.
Still 800hrs of failing FATEs.... naah I still don't believe him.

And of course I've never heard of someone getting an Atma from a failed fate either so if he did fail hundreds of hours of fates, well, I guess its possible.

It's also because he was looking for sympathy/attention and realized not everyone is that naive, so he backed out quietly. We're all aware at how cruel RNG can be but even it can't get that bad unless the drop rate was like 0.0001%

Update ... day four 39 fates and I had my drop all 4 days combined just under 170 fates for it.

My chocobo got 200k exp (Rank7 now, yay!), ~11k GC seals

I needed 200+ fates in the area with Gluttenous Gertrude, I did her 20 times on one day. How I know that? I check how much more I need for the next achievement, I was around 800. I got my achievement before I got the atma drop.

And yes, I did have my zenith equipped and had on most fates gold, on some silver, no failed fates.

I wouldn't be surprised, if our names somehow have a checksum which is entered in a formula for the drop rate. This is the only reason I can find behind some getting 12 Atma within one day and some getting 0-3 in the same time

If the droprate of Atma is 1%, not getting an Atma after 200 fates has a probability of 0.99^200 = 0.1339 = 13.4%.
Go hit a mining node with a 13% miss chance and notice how often misses occur.

I doubt that they deliberately gimp characters. It's really all in the math. RNG can be REALLY ugly if you look at small sample sizes.
That's why competent developers implement failsafe mechanisms to eliminate the worst ends of the spectrum.

Many high level boss mob fates are not soloable as a DPS class. Even as a white mage I have a tough time with some of them.
Some are simply impossible due to excessive Mob HP/time constraints or rapidly respawning adds.

But most work pretty well with 2-3 people. His server must be dead if he is constantly the only guy in a zone.

Seriously, what's with the character limit in this forum?!
