    Pug 1.18 notes pre launch discussion

    I secretly hoped we wouldn't need MP and that it was a mistake on the auto attack video. Ah well, only play will tell how it goes. Simian thrash potency increased and second wind dropped down to 45 seconds is nice. Was kinda hoping featherfoots timer would be dropped a bit too and pug exclusive.

    How do you guys feel so far just by the reading?

    I like it it sucks that Taunt/II had it's cooldown increased but overall I'm happy with what I've seen so far

    It sucks a lot, light strike, is now a once in the while gimmick, Combo mechanics dissapear. looks like the game is going back to a wait for tp style game, because your basic abilities are now even less common than weaponskills. For all melee this is bad, but i play pugilist most so it really hits me, mp cost kind of sucks, but with long timers, most of these skills can not be used that much anyhow, and skills like light strike which gave pugilist tank potential, no longer do so, just acts as an small time buff, unless the duration of the buff is greatly increased.

    The non battle stuff seems cool, but this battle style seems to be a long ways a way from fun, or interesting in text.

    Yeah, I am a bit worried too but remember they said they're going to mess with the hate algorithms so maybe taunt is super effective now. Also, the stats might actually work now so all that inherent evasion we are suppose to have might actually mean a damn.

    i dunno man, looking at the evasion numbers, which come from gear, we never really had a super high base evasion, certain equipped mages, and archer could get higher base evasion, the major difference was the bonus from light strike. I mean if the effect of Dex on evasion is increased that could help, but Dex belongs to anyone, archers would still be more evasive for most of the time.

    Just playing around I have 184 Evasion, but I don't really build around it most of the time. If DEX starts affecting it to the extent that is beneficial that'd be nice. True, Archers would be more evasive most of the time... but Archer's aren't the ones required to evade to use stronger skills.

    I liked the PGL changes...other than basic attacks it was pretty much enhanced. IMO only PGL and GLA might be satisfied with the patch...and LNC, ARC and DoM might be pissed as hell!

    ...and my poor MRD...was forgotten at limbo ; ; WTF!!! Why didn't they boost maim? ; ;

    Kinda pissed about Light strike requiring MP now. Gonna miss tanking on PUG
    Would've be nice if the gave us a "Meditate" type ability that restores MP, similar to Second Wind.

    Other than that, the rest of the changes seem great and/or reasonable. I'm eager to see how Victimize II and Simian Thrash have changed.

    yeah, everyone is gonna have to level a few levels on THM now for MP Tap....

    Not really the point, but ok. Siphon MP is easy enough to get, but leveling THM to 44 just for the 2nd tier is hardly fun for anyone who doesn't like to play mages.

    I just don't see why only PUG's "regular" attacks now consume MP while no other classes do. Since when does hand to hand combat require mana?

    Eh, it's not a big issue though, just a minor annoyance I guess. Hardly game-breaking.
