Wondering if the order of jobs from most dps to least dps is still the same or not.

Hmm, well let me ask this then. In World of Warcraft I primarily played as a Destruction Warlock and a Mage of usually Arcane or Fire and excelled as those two classes and was great about moving only enough to get out of danger while maximizing my casts to have max dps of my gear as well as utilizing mobile spells (Fel Flame, Arcane Barrage, and Scorch). Would this translate to me being a Blm that would do well or would this end up being meaningless and would it better that I just go Smn and put any and all raiding experience I have from WoW in the past?

If you can translate those skills over to black mage and know when/how much to move and when to best utilize instant cast spells. You'll go far as a black mage.

The transition from WoW's Warlock/Mage to 14's Blm was cake for me, which in turn caused me to spend a year of self debating over if I should focus on Blm or Smn as my primary caster. I kept hearing how Smn was so much better for mobile fights and was way higher dps, but from my personal experiences, it kept messing with me as I was having no problems with Blm in mobile fights and in fact found it much easier to be Blm on those fights as I could focus more on casting and dodging instead of having to pay attention to see if I was missing a dot or something. In the end, I just kept swapping and making no progress cause I could do fights easily and pump out dps as Blm like no tomorrow, but kept seeing info on how Smn was better and more mobile. Don't get me wrong it's not that I find Smn hard, it's just I was never really one for dot style dps, preferring more direct damage and "turret" style dps.

In my opinion, if you've done any sort of raiding on World of Warcraft as an Arcane Mage (especially during Siege of Orgrimmar because I feel like I'm fighting Heigan the Unclean on some of those fights), you'll have no problem playing BLM here. SMN is better than BLM on fights with movement, but if you're being forced to move enough for it to affect your DPS that much, your group is either giving you mechanics which they shouldn't, or you're having an unlucky streak of targeted mechanics (Turn 6 bulb, Turn 7 voice/shriek, Turn 9 Thermionic Beam, etc)*.

Don't worry so much about the DPS ranks. BLMs perform well and the decision between SMN and BLM mostly comes down to playstyle and the ability to combat res, which can be mitigated by people not being silly.

*Edit: Even in the event where you happen to get unlucky with mechanics, coordination with your group and use of Aetherial Manipulation will minimize so much movement that "movement heavy" isn't really an excuse anymore.

Ah well that is a major relief. Yeah, I did most content as an Arcane mage as I loved Arcane magic in that game and did very well at it as well. Kk, thanks so much everyone, you've given the spark I needed to commit to Blm full force and master it to the best of my ability. ^_^

I'd say SMN is the most well rounded DPS, they can maintain high DPS on most circumstances, be it moving alot (T6), boss jumping around (T9), AoEing on adds (all content), kiting mobs (T7), turreting on boss (T8),...etc. That said, they are like MNKs that has an wind up time, has less AoE ability than BLMs but are generally better off than any Melees AoEing, if Bane has no limit then SMN will be pretty awesome.

1. SMN is Affliction Warlock with an Imp
2. BLM mobile spell which is scathe equivalent to scorch damage range without scorch debuff, and other 3 (if SC added) is RNG based
3. Astral Fire 3 stacks do the same thing as Arcane Mage's 4 stacks buff (forgot the name) but IT DIDN'T INCREASE the casting speed like Arcane Blast 4x stacks
4. BLM is in fact much lesser effective than Arcane Mage with the only slight advantage of able to do some DPS when recharging mana ( BLM is Arcane Mage casting Evocation and still able to do a bit of DPS) ; as Evocation is channeling and Umbral ice debuff is MP regen over time
