Suddenly, leveling him past 10 just got a whole lot less appealing. Mine is only Rank 9, but this certainly makes me question effort vs. reward when it comes to getting those elusive onions and leveling him more.

Whats even more sad is the only way to level past 10 is stables or grinding out mobs since you no longer get exp bonus from Challenge log. If a SE rep can entertain me as to why there is no exp bonus for doing the challenge log after level 10, it would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: I didn't stable my chocobo since I wasn't in an fc at the time I reached rank 10 so I couldn't stable it and feed it the onions to bump up the cap.

Wait, seriously? That's absurd D:Whats even more sad is the only way to level past 10 is stables or grinding out mobs since you no longer get exp bonus from Challenge log. They should have the Chocobo scale off of your gear or allow us to use gear on the chocobo. Or at the very least, let its potency attacks scale off our equipped weapon.
I don't have a problem with the Challenge Log for chocobos past rank 10. I just collected my bonus 450k~ exp from the challenge log today.Whats even more sad is the only way to level past 10 is stables or grinding out mobs since you no longer get exp bonus from Challenge log. It'll show as 0 exp in the challenge log if you have stabled, but it will correct display once you take it out, if that's what you are referring to.

what food do you feed or quest to raise the lv 10 cap?

Thavnarian ( not sure about the spelling) Onion. One onion allows you to train it up to the next rank so you'll need 10 to get it to rank 20 and they cost over a million gil each on many servers I think. It's a long and difficult process to grow them and there is no other way of getting them.
This. My choco is lvl 10 now but I don't really plan to buy onions for crazy gil because I have set him up with skills from tank, dps and heal trees so that he actually does damage, heal us both and generate enmity when I want him to.My choco is good enough to heal (at rank 8) small groups including being solo healer for pieste maps and fight and tank decently enough. Even without food, my archer (level 35) has a hard time taking hate after my choco gets it. My choco also never lost hate when I leveled my arcanist to 50 as well.
I suppose its a matter of playstyle combined with not focusing on a single tree. (yeah that doesn't get me barding any faster but my choco is definitely more useful)
Right now I think its 4 (or 5) tank 4 (or 5) healer (just enough for choco cure) and 6 attacker.
About OP complaint that chocobo doesn't do more damage at lvl 10+, it is obvious that chocobo base stats only change when you unlock another + ___% stat from it's skill tree. So if you have already unlocked all + str, +crit and so on then don't expect your bird to get stronger after unlocking new heal ability.
They have to come from somewhere though. I guess, without looking up a cross breed or xivdb item, that the seeds are from cross plants or a map drop?Thavnarian ( not sure about the spelling) Onion. Maybe 14 is too low to see a big difference
