Design-wise, I can't imagine it being *such* a massive undertaking that it couldn't be done in a reasonable fashion. Simply have the Job Crystal's item-values override the actual armor worn (unless you assign the value to something like 0, in which case it just defaults back to the actual worn armor). Of course, I don't know the specifics of how they coded everything, so that suggestion might not be applicable.

The simple truth is, much as I'm loving FFXIV, there are quite a lot of needlessly-complicated mechanics at play, and the Glamour system is chief among them, as they're the one thing that, veteran or newcomer, everyone is going to have *some* kind of interest in.

I mean, personally, I'd rather see them *COMPLETELY* overhaul the Glamour system, and go with something along the lines of DC Universe Online's Costume system, or Guild Wars 2's Wardrobe system. I just figured this suggestion would probably be a lot less effort.

Honestly, the amount of work to make it work doesn't matter. Well, it does matter sort of, but the main issue is like I said. It puts more strain on the client. And one of the currently supported clients already has memory issues, and this would just cause more of a headache for said system.

Currently, using a glamour prism likely just causes the item to reference a different item ID or something to cause it to appear as a different item. To add something that uses separate slots, or memorizes a whole set, would use more memory, even if minor, something said client does not have excess of.

Don't bring up the PS3 issue, otherwise we get more threads demanding they drop support for all the PS3 players either forcing them to upgrade or be left out in the cold. Because as we all know a minor inconvenience to some of these whiners is far more important than thousands of people getting to play. [and I'm part of the "PC Master Race"]

That being said, they should just make more gear to vary it up a bit and create obvious BiS for every job which should eliminate most of this issue.

I'm honestly fine with how it is. I just get annoyed when people who really have no idea, or choose to ignore or deny actual issues, try to claim it should be easy.

Glamour tied to gear sets would be overall better, probably easier to implement than new slots or messing with job crystals.

The problem is that sets are local. They're not on the server at all. ie it would likely be "easy" for someone to figure out how to make use of that if they did tie it to sets.
