Did you go to this thread being neutral about both view points, or are you defending DoH/L first? There is always an end point, however you wish to tread in order to get there is your choice. There could be a reason why people do it in a particular order, which they deem efficient. But as long as you get there, hey, it's your time your money, no one would dictate otherwise!

I don't know what this "noob/not pro" argument even is. It's a game. It's a hobby. No one is "pro", they just do things their own way and assume that their way is the right way just because it worked for them. IMO you can take any route you want. Personally, I leveled one DOM class so that I could experience high level content and then decided to focus on DOH/L classes for a while for the potential income. Some people choose crafting over endgame, some rather not craft at all. It's really more about what's fun for you rather than what somebody else deems as "pro". If you allow someone else to pressure you into skipping content that you actually enjoy because it's not important to them, then you're only gonna wear yourself out on this game. Do what makes you happy.

IMO it's best to do them all at the same time. Having your DoW/M leveled up at the same rate will allow you to farm materials that you need. If your focus is crafting, think of leveling your DoW/M as part of that focus. Personally, I did PLD first before leveling all the DoH/DoL at the same time.

If gil actually did something, it might be a good idea.
But the only things worth spending gil on is Vanity and Melded i90 gear/Novus. Most of which is for DoW/M.
If you're DoL/H only all you're doing is spending gil on materials to make more gil, its a never ending cycle of spending money to make more money that you're not going to need.

There is housing and furniture to spend money on. Specially with private housing coming out soon.

This game has a lot more to offer than crafting and you are missing out on a lot of content if you don't level a fighting class. So yes, your friend is right.

Just level whatever you are having most fun with. I've known people who crafted first and are now clearing SCoB and savage weekly. So being ignorant and saying crafters are noobs or not pros is bogus.
    Personally I went BLM/WHM>Botanist/Miner>Crafting.

And if your 'friend' is telling you how to play the game after only playing this game 3 weeks himself, I would just take what he's saying with a grain of salt. Or just smile and nod and walk away before his DB-ness rubs off on you.

To each their own. While your friend seems like a snarky prick, I get what he's saying.

If you spent your first couple months leveling only crafting classes, you'd fall way behind in endgame. The point of endgame is to hit level cap as quickly as possible, so you can start working on reaching your weekly point caps sooner, and working on boss kills. That's how the top raiding FCs do it anyway.

Fact is, Gil does nothing in this game but pay for raid food, teleports, and materia for your Novus. After that, Gil is just a useless number on the side of your screen. You can spend it on useless fluff-items, but those have no positive effect on your character.

While I feel that it's good to level one DoW/DoM to 50 to unlock most stuff, it shouldn't really matter what you level first.
But imo it's good to have a DoW/DoM at lvl 20 due to Chocobos and Retainers which helps a lot when leveling DoL/DoH as the time spent leveling a DoW/DoM to 20 evens out with the shortened traveling time of a chocobo, at least I would go mad if I had to do leves without a chocobo.
