Mastering Crafting/Gathering Classes First VS Mastering a DOW Class First - DEBATE

Hello~

So I have a friend who I invited to play about 3 weeks ago to play and today we had a simple debate on the title.

I started playing from 2.0 and I knew a lot of players who didn't even play DoW classes and simply maxed out all crafts and gathering classes back then. Which I thought was pretty smart. Not exactly my style though, but I assumed they would make more gil in average compared to DoW classes.

Then my friend goes onto saying that people who would master crafting/gathering classes first are 'noobs' and 'not pro'.

Going onto saying how all 'pros' would get to lvl 50 on a DoW first and how all 'pros' would agree to that.

Personally I think it doesn't matter how you start playing the game, since it's your option. But for someone even as a friend to call others noob/not pro just cause they play differently is ignorant. I feel both paths have their benefits

Well going by that, I felt the need to make this post.

Do you think it's noob/not pro to start playing the game as a crafter/gatherer only? Is it a pros way to start and max a DoW class first?

Probably wouldn't have to say it that way, but having a level 50 DOW/M unlocks all the content you need. Also, you can stay alive easier at high level gathering areas, or gather materials yourself. It's not impossible to do a crafter first, it's just very, very painful.

Personally I think this is an insult to everyone I knew back in 2.0 who had maxed out crafts (and not a single DoW over lvl10).

If you learn them all at the same time you will probably never need to buy anything off the MB, bar the odd bit of Materia, prism's etc

there is definitly nothing "pro" or "noob" about what class you master first.

Want to run dungeons and raids: DOW or DOM

Want to make endless Money or simply craft/gather until you drop dead: DoH/DoL

It is solely a mather of interest

I always found it odd when someone didn't at least get one DoW/M to 50 first (it opens so many doors!) before going hard on crafting, but to each his own.

In fact your friend is showing their ignorance, what Pro focuses on only one part of his Profession, does a footballer only concentrates on heading the ball, does an Ice hockey player only focus on attacking, the list is endless.
