Remember to open you ports on your routers folks, it helps TONS to speed up your dl speed for the patch.

Actually, I did not notice any difference between ports being open or closed in case of FFXIV's patcher. They are closed on my side at the moment and the patcher was DLing @ 270kb/s (my max being 325kb/s)

for me, open ports mean the difference between 20kb/s and 300+ kb/s when using the patcher. That's been the case for me every time.

i jumped from 0-50kb/s before opening the ports. since i started opening ports i get 0-100kb/s. with my torrent program is get 300+. yes, there was an increase by opening the ports, but was nowhere near what some claim they are getting.

What I've seen is that if I start dling the patch w/out opening the ports first, then open them after starting the DL is the my dl speed jumps up by about 100kb/s almost immediately, then increases to about 300+kb/s over course of the download as more connections are found.
