It does not change the fact that FFXIV has to be commercialized and more approachable by that audience if it wants to succeed. As it stands now its a very niche game. The only people that play it now are; old XI players that understand its flaws and accept what must be done to revive it - and people like you that think the game is amazing and defend it at all costs.
No genius, good content that incorporates that mechanic and others successfully makes the game good.
Only on an FF Forum would a topic about the random topics people bring up would you find an argument of why Jump breaks or does not break immersion on a fantasy world ><
Marious of Nemesis, Figaro Server: Lancer 37, THM 27, Conj 23
Yeah seriously Marious. lol

jumping and pvp is always hilarious lol watching a bunch of bouncing idiots fight each other XD
i think its funny that ppl consider removing ACTUAL physical functions in real life as a break of immersion. i'm not really for/against jumping just because idc, BUT i think being able to jump/swim adds more of a realistic feeling.
Abriel do us a favor and stfu.
you sir or madem, are not good for gaming. You hate just for the sake of hate. And your only fight is vanity. Sorry but watch g4 tv some time. Every video game with jump has hidden things to discover. Like Wow and this was on g4 2 summers ago, WoW had several locations "hidden" around the world. Like the dwarvan airfield, the troll (villiage now accessible in cata ), even in dungeons if you jumped to certain areas you found hidden chests. If these location were not supposed to be accessable they wouldn't be at all jump or no jump. Elder scrolls is a game with jump, and spam jumping is the only fast way to skill it up. I dare you to call elder scrolls cartoonish. They also had hidden treasures like on roof tops or hidden enterances to places. SE can add so much content jump can be used for. Like hidden areas, treasures, alternate routes around the zone.
Why be against adding content for sake of vanity. Sorry i hope SE don;t listen to the no jump players. they don;t want content

Jumping has nothing to do with a game being "approchable". Again you're assuming that since you like a concept, that concept is indispensible for the game to be "approchable" or successful. Sorry, it doesn't work that way.It does not change the fact that FFXIV has to be commercialized and more approachable by that audience if it wants to succeed. As it stands now its a very niche game. The only people that play it now are; old XI players that understand its flaws and accept what must be done to revive it - and people like you that think the game is amazing and defend it at all costs.
Tutorials are what's needed to make the game approchable, and a whole lot of work is needed to make the game successful. Random jumping may easily not be (and most probably will not be, considering the fact that Yoshida already stated that if jump will be implemented it will be in a limited fashion) part of it.
I'm afraid you're skipping just another link. Good content can come in many ways. "that mechanic" is nowhere necessary to make a "good game", as there are many other (and less stupid looking) ways to create good encounters, actually improving the epic feeling, instead of detracting to it. When an encounters feels gimmicky (IE: makes people look like characters of a platformers, or pawns in a puzzle game), it loses any resemblance of an epic battle in the eyes of many.No genius, good content that incorporates that mechanic and others successfully makes the game good.
Oh, by the way:
I'm quite disillusioned in fact (it just doesn't mean what you think it means :P). If I thought that the game was perfect or "end all be all", I wouldn't be here posting new suggestions that *I* feel would improve it basically every day.Something you don't seem to want to do since you're disillusioned and think that they game is end all be all.
The fact that I don't agree with SOME ways, or with the completely unrealistic notion of scrapping every single mechanic and concept at the base in the game, doesn't mean that I believe that the game needs no improvement.
As usual, you're making a whole lot of assumptions on your counterpart "he disagrees with me, so he musn't be very smart". But if you think I believe that the game should remain as it is, I'm afraid you're delusive. Which, by the way, is probably the word you were looking for.
I don't see you agreeing with every single proposal out there. Does that mean that you think that this game is "end all, be all"?
As much as you'd probably love that people that disagree with you (with arguments that you don't seem to be able to counter) would just "shut the F up", that won't happen. Unfortunately for you, I am as entitled to express my opinion as you are.
No, we just don't want THAT kind of content. As much as I don't want to be able to shoot pigs dropping from the sky when it rains. It'd be content, as well, you know? just not really enjoyable or fitting. Why be against adding content for sake of vanity. Sorry i hope SE don;t listen to the no jump players. they don;t want content

You guys are all getting way off-topic!
This thread is supposed to be citing examples of why this forum is so ridiculous!
....oh. Carry on.
sorry my post started all this i'm sorry
only in an ffxiv forum will ppl consufe immersion with realisms thinking jumping or swimming breaks it when infact not jumping or swimming breaks immersion as we are limited in how we intreract with in the game world (which immersion is how much/well we interct with in the game realm not being realistic)
