Are you sure now? Because I can't remember a single beta forum of a single MMORPG in which this horse wasn't beaten to death, with exactly the same arguments from both sides.sorry my post started all this i'm sorry
only in an ffxiv forum will ppl consufe immersion with realisms thinking jumping or swimming breaks it when infact not jumping or swimming breaks immersion as we are limited in how we intreract with in the game world (which immersion is how much/well we interct with in the game realm not being realistic)
Same for swimming by the way (not that i'm against swimming, by the way, while not 100% realistic, at the very least you have to have water to swim, looking way less stupid that randomly jumping in place where there's no jumping to be done).
Oh and by the way, I'd advise you to edit posts if you want to add something to them. As things stands, replying to yourself multiple times, you're kind of spamming.

Yeah, you're right that was the word I was looking for.
The difference between you and I - in regards to our approach on whether or not we agree with things that pop on the forums is this:
When I say something is a bad idea I give reasoning as to why; hard to implement, easy to exploit, doesn't exactly fix the underlying problem, etc. I then go on the give constructive criticism as to how it can be made better and what would be an overall better approach.
You disagree with something - "It looks stupid." Thats exactly what you've said every single one of your posts. None of your so called counterpoints are valid in an argument about a game. Who cares that it looks stupid? They could implement taking a *** in the bushes but as long as they made it fun, serves a purpose and it works then whats to complain about?
Key words there are in bold if you missed them.
I really should've taken my own advice before and stopped replying to your posts before because you are seriously cancerous to the process this game is going through. I've facepalmed one too many times reading/replying to your comments and lolcounterpoints. Been browsing forums for years and have never had to ignore someone until now. Congrats.

You may not care if it looks stupid, Kuroikaze. I respect your opinion, while I don't agree with it. On the other hand, this doesn't seem to go both ways considering how you continue to fill your posts with veiled (or not) personal attacks.
I (and evidently others) do care.
Games have art directors exactly to decide what looks fitting and what looks "stupid" in the context of the game, and if you think looks aren't important in any game, then I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree here.
"fun" is made of many elements, that normally differ from person to person. Things that look unfitting or stupid may not be included in what spoils the "fun" for you. But it may be (and again, it pretty evidently is) for others.
The only thing that's cancerous here, is the attitude of some people that think that others' opinion is "cancerous" just because it disagrees with theirs.
Let me give you a piece of advice. If you don't want to deal with opinions that you consider "cancerous", you're not made for forums. Try a blog. And make sure to turn off commenting, God forbid someone daring to counter your points and not sharing your tastes, that you seem to consider absolute and undeniable truth.

if ppl cared for vanity then Perfect world international AND world of warcraft would not have millions of players. ffxi and ffxiv are the 2 pleasing to look at mmo, and the most limiting.
again immersion is how much we can interect with the enviroment. Not realism or vanity.
And more ppl spamed the dance emote in ffxi. Then ppl spamed the space bar in WoW. in ffxi you can find 20+ ppl in a zone spamming /dance 2 or /dance 4 I don't nor ever seen 20+ spam jumpers in WoW in one zone. Last time I played WoW was just before ffxiv was launched so pretty recently I was on 12 different servers ex[ploring trying to find a server community I fit in. With the combination of the 12 i've only ever seen 5 spam jumpers. Only 5, not 5 per server.
the only time i've seen jump abused in WoW was the rmt hackers who jump killed their character to spell out rmt ads. (which was kinda cool to see actually)
Also aberial I type on the ps3, and text space is limited. or I would just edit and add. But you are too serious for gaming. If someone wants to look silly, let them its funny to watch. If you don't like it, move on, don't watch. If they stalk you report them.
Anyone against adding features for sake of hate, vanity, or becausr its in another game, needs to seek professional help. You guys are acting like jump in a game killed your mother. Why be against something that can add tons of content? That is counter productive to what we want. I'm all for ANYTHING that will add NEW content. And is what ffxiv needs. I want to play it on my ps3 asap.
Just as the above poster that doesn't seem to know respect for other people's opinion, you seem to forget the detail that those millions of players (which in the case of PWI are inconsequential, being a F2P game. I'm a "player" as well, according to their counts, even if I didn't touch the game since the second day after open beta) may like those games for a wide variety of reasons, not necessarily because you can jump.
Correlation doesn't imply causation.
On the fact that I'm "too serious for gaming", what do you mean? There are plenty games that take a "serious approach" to storytelling and visuals. You have a PS3, try heavy rain.
I play FFXIV and not WoW (between the other reasons) because I like a more "serious" visual style and storytelling. Otherwise I'd be there dabbling with comedic relief orcs and cartoonish art, isn't it?
I'm not acting as jumping is a "game killer", I'm acting as random jumping is something I don't like to see in a MMORPG. If I don't like something, and I have reasons I find valid not to like it, I will argue against it. It's that simple.
Or do you think that everyone should agree with the inclusion of everything that doesn't "kill" the game? no matter how much they find it nonsensical?
A lot of things can add "tons of content". Adding aliens and lightsabers would addd "tons of content". I'm sure I don't need to explain why I would be against it, right?

Only on Final Fantasy forums will you find fanboys up in arms claiming there is nothing wrong with a game that even the developers admit sucks in it's current form.
