Anyone mind helping me decide on Character name? :)

You could look at the meanings of names and come up with a name that way. And Hyur midlander naming conventions are pretty much like English names. First names are British/Anglo saxon/Celitc and surnames are like a description of them (job, where they're from, some physical feature, etc.). Highlanders are pretty much the same, but more Germanic.

So if you still use Terin you could come up with a surname that describes the character you're going to make in some way. You could even just come up with some little back story or something to help you come up with one (don't need to go full RP or anything), it's actually pretty fun to do.

Whenever I am working on names for a character I always choose first a name of significance and then build off the meaning of that name for inspiration. I also like the idea of mixing name origins and then changing spellings to come up with a first name and/or surname..

For Terin I feel like if it's used as a surname the first name needs to end in something other than a "t" sound or an "n" sound and should not include an "r" for good flow...

Also tried to keep in mind the few things you mentioned about the character, (i.e. Monk.)

Here are a few I came up with:

Paval Ter'in (Paval being a bastardization of the Russian name Pavel which apparently means humble. I've added the "'" to the name because it seems a lot of Miqo'te names in FFXIV have that...)

Bo Ter'in - (Inspired by the French name Beau or Beaumont/Beauregard for Handsome.)

Ter'in Baptiste- (A literal usage of the French name Baptiste... Although Monk is not considered a spiritual role I always find the title monk to be somewhat spiritual so I looked at some religious influences.. Also it sounds a bit aristocratic to me...)

And then one more I guess..

I took my own character's name from Celtic Mythology so I figured I'd do the same here... I really liked the names Cael ... so Ter'in Cael.

I could go on forever, but I'll stop there. Hope this helps!

Ahh, whatever. If it helps inspire, then cool, but I'll get self-indulgent now about my own character's names.

S'anzu Mahri means "Anzu of the Zu tribe, daughter of Mahri Nunh".

"Zu" and "Anzu" are alternative translations of the same name of a creature from Mesopotamian myths: A lion-headed bird that guarded treasures of the gods. The word means, roughly, "divine wisdom". This character's other job is Scholar. "Sanzu", meanwhile, is the Japanese folklore equivalent of the River Styx from Greek Mythology: A boundary between life and death. Her main job is a Warrior so uh...I guess she sends lots of people across it?

"Mahri" is taken from Sulaiman al Mahri, an Arab navigator and mapmaker from the 16th century. This character's patron deity is Llymlaen.

You see how nerdy this stuff can get?

My other character is a hyur highlander named Voldrune Fairstone. "Fairstone" doesn't mean much aside from the obvious, just sounded like a good surname. "Voldrune", however, is a portmanteau of Old Norse völva, meaning a seeress or shamaness, and rune, which is, y'know...rune. Added the 'd' in the middle since a hard consonant made pronunciation sound better. Altogether it's meant to sound rather wise and distinguished with an air of antiquity.
