I don't dislike you idea, that actually sounds kinda cool, but..
I think something like "dark matter can turn into any material" makes plenty of sense in a fantasy world.

no, I think it is stupid and just sidelining DoH classes. It is clear Yoshi doesn't want DoH and DoL to feel like real classes - which honestly - was half the reason I was interested in the game.
I like it. Now I can actually repair the random dude's Elm bow out in the field with my appropriately-ranked Carpenter instead of finding out I only brought Maple branches.

well i'll miss the income from repair mats but i already have like two million gil.
On the plus side this means people will A) repair stuff for people more often
B) have more materials for creating items now that they're not used for repairing them.
no in contracts they complain they didn't read the fine print or didn't read the specifics. it there are no specifics then you didn't sign on for them. you show me the fine print in this "contract" and i will agree. learn your own argument before trying to use it.

this often very incorrect in the business world, just for facts sake (i could care less about your guys arguing)
often when a larger company has a smaller company sign an agreement then yes that is it (but anyone can sue anyone for anything, thats why i say often).
if the company producing a product they are not losing ownership to does not give specifics than the receiving company must then assume the broad agreement is thus under complete direction under the producing company.
its like an "umbrella" type agreement.
the receiving company is agreeing to no specifics thus giving the producing company the freedom to change what they want.
15 abilities each? what is this... Kindergarten?A jack of all trades WHM... what is this 1989?
Ridiculous. It is in no way, shape or form sidelining or marginalizing DoH/L classes. It's making things easier for them by not having to create and carry oodles of repair ingredients.
It's already been stated that they won't be fully realized classes like Tanaka wanted them to be. Part of the drastic changes we asked for :P
But I do agree with Balbanes... we need to get this mass need for items outta the way and dark matter fits lore great, as someone said, can be used to repair anything^^

I like them simplifying the system with Dark Matter, but honestly I think they should do away with it. The system isn't doing anything good for anyone. Except the 2-3k gil for the crafters who do the repair, most of which don't care about such amounts anyway.
