P.S. This is not my main...
While I agree that there needs to be more "dangerous" PvE zones, pvp zones have no place in an FF game beyond things like Frontlines, arena, etc.
This is a PvE game and forcing open world PvP would simply destroy the nature of what FF games are.
I would also like to point out that in 1.0 the "dangerous" zones were...everywhere. They literally had lvl20 mobs and lvl99 mobs in the same area. That is called terrible mob placement.
If they added more 'danger' to the overworld I would hope that they make smart decisions about mob placement.
Ran from the South tip of Southern Thanalan as a level 1 ran up to the north west section of Mor Dhona. The answer to your question is all of them it was a 0 death run.

I actually think FFXI had it pretty balanced in the early days.
NMs here and there to challenge and offer nice rewards as possible drops,
HNMs to spawn on the rare occasion to drop epic loot...
But as time went on, more NMs cropped up, more dangerous mobs in low and mid level areas, and it really sucks when you move ten steps from a level 30 area to a level 80 area.
ARR has it pretty sweet right now in the zones, the only thing I miss is the occasional NM... and the opportunity is there, rare equipment with good stats pre level 50 would be cool!
I think it would be cool if they had them like in ffxi where the spawn was affected by place holders or by time spawn, and maybe other things unique to ARR like spawning during or after a FATE.

Running through lvl 90 mob areas to get the teleport achievement in 1.0 was...fun lol...in a masochistic way.
Fitting this would come at the one year anniversary. Anyone now tired of the same old non-dangerous world of Eorzea? Are you feeling like a big fish in a small pond with all the inflated Ilvl gear?
I just did the anniversary event and it reminded how much the game has changed both bad and good. 4 years for some players, 1 year for others. Did the Wandering Minstrel mysterious words give us insight to a new dawn in Eorzea? Will 3.0 be the new dawn out of the darkness?
P.S.-We are posting on the wrong thread. Should post on this one- http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-game%21/page4. Only took 36 comments for Yoshi to personally respond on page 4.

this REALLY needs to be a thing in this game, it's the perfect solution! It even uses the day night system in a clever way, it would be brilliant!Actually, it would annoy everyone except the few people wanting dangerous zones.. And I'm saying that as a person who doesn't mind dangerous zones at all..
One of the best zones in an MMO is, in my opinion, still Kithicor Forest in Everquest. During daytime it was all friendly and low level, but during night time you'd better get out fast, because all the high level, and very deadly undead started showing up.
It would be pretty rude to ask for things on a nice thread like that thoughP.S.-We are posting on the wrong thread. Should post on this one- http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-game%21/page4. Only took 36 comments for Yoshi to personally respond on page 4..
Last time I go there as Rune Fencer (one of new job from Adoulin expansion), turned on all buff runes, and just go strolling there with dozens of mobs following me, hitting me with damage nothing more like little pests. lolThese posers kill me with this crazy talk. Having played XI, I can honestly say I DON'T miss places like Castle Zvahl [S] where no one could move 5 steps without something attacking them regardless of stealth abilities. Those true-sight mechanics can stay away from this game.
Have been going there several times to finish all WotG storylines including all three nations and helping linkshell mates getting through those.
One of thing I still miss and really want this to happen is Fiat Lux. Unfortunately, this will require coop from majority players to re-invade regions in Crystal War era to even enable this grand mission to be unlocked, which I think might never gonna happen ever again. Very sad...
FYI, this has been implemented this year. Now towns have several crystal aether like for players to tele between with cost of gil. This also added with those adoulin-teleport devices that also does similar. In short, now players there can travel fast between worlds and even era. Yes, you can directly tele to WotG area without going through Atomos anymore or using the one-time WotG insta-warp.
lol
I still remember this freshly in my mind. There's that time when someone in party dumb enough, forgot to switch off running mode, and the treants proceed to pound all of us. Fun! XD

In FFXI, the three early Promyvion's (like most everything in CoP) which was a mad dash to the next floor, was not a popular extracurricular activity do to the likelihood of being one-shotted. The same with many of the high level beasties in FFXIV 1.0.
If you are looking for a similar experience in 2.0, I suggest The Aurum Vale. Try racing to the first boss room without dying. That's exactly what you are asking for.
