I hope they give us another powerful went like this. I'd kill for something happening now yet no one can see it until we're thrown off guard. I too regret not being there for this.
There was an offhand comment made about doing something similar to the 1.0->2.0 transition for 2.0->3.0. If it were so, I would be extremely happy, since I absolutely loved the way that event played out in 1.x. That being said, they're kind of running out of time. The 1.0->2.0 transition worked so well because it was gradual, and went almost without notice from patch to patch. It took from 1.20 to 1.23(c) to fully complete the event. Meanwhile, it seems like a good estimate that 3.0 will occure after 2.5. This is due to the fact that we know that there will only be one more turn of Coil (2.4) and the World of Darkness is the last CT (2.5). Now, it's very possible they will surprise us with a Command Room of the Binding Coil or something like that and include a 2.6, but chances are low. That means if they are going to implement an epic story told over several patches that leads up to 3.0, they're kind of out of time. They could probably still pull it off by making changes in the 2.xx patches as well as the 2.x patches. That would give them up to 6 chances to move the story foreward.

I remember you originally posting that forever ago. I remember seeing Dalamud in 1.20 and freaking out over it, lol. I've never have and probably never will again feel that same feeling of impending doom. Such a damn good ending.

I'm sure it have something to do with Revenant's Toll, seeing how it also change with every update. There was an offhand comment made about doing something similar to the 1.0->2.0 transition for 2.0->3.0. This song definitely has an effect on people, the current rendition of it anyways. Its the first time in I don't know how long I've seen so many people just simply sit in one zone and chatting with each other on my server. Looking back at it, we don't have much impacting music/areas that give different feelings in 2.0. Hell, even the Beastmen HQ's are all upbeat/fast-paced themes. While I couldn't play 1.0, even an example from XI would be Shadow Lord's castle, the final zone had some pretty good ambient music to fit the area. The Imperial encampments almost do it except for the fact we rarely have any reason to go to them after the main story.
Nine times out of ten, crossing the Moonlight Faire Chaperones has let me hear normal, upbeat event music. Then, this tenth time, I hear a quiet choir singing a song that reminds me of The Binding Coil of Bahamut.
Intrigued, I sit down before the alter of bomb floats. Turns out it's "Answers", the song played behind our dear intro movie. Yet it's calm, quiet, without the obtrusion of sound effects or the need to feel intense. This version so very well fits the idea of a calm, reflective background song that's just... so damn wonderful.
I can't be the only person who would pay to have a loopable version of this quiet, well made choir version of Answers. Is it going to be a thing? Please?
^ On top of everything said here, Answers is the main theme of the game. This is no longer the Moonfire Faire by the way, it's called The Rising. It's like Eorzea's "Memorial Day" for the Calamity. And for us Legacy players, it's a nice blast of nostalgia for the memories of 1.0, and another way of SE thanking us for sticking with them the whole way. I'm glad they decided to play "Dalamud Answers"....because like Enkidoh said, it's a version of the song played in the final days of 1.0 before the moon fell. It had a huge effect on the players as we tried to defend the City States as they were attacked by dozens of Chimeras and Nael Deus Darnus (multiple Nael clones too..)That's actually a variation of the version of Answers that actually played in the last few weeks of version 1.0 (it replaced all zone background in the game at that stage). It was affectionately nicknamed as Dalamud Answers by the community, but sadly no official version for purchase of it was ever released by SE. This new rendition of it though sadly only repeats the first verse ad nausum, where as the version that played in 1.23c was the full song, not to mention it was heavily distorted and obscured by stormy sound effects.
Here, one of the few things I was able to record...it's a little bit of Coerthas in the final days before the moon fell. Pay close attention to the music.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbOk...QmGieZpg4z6j9g
The only thing I wish they did during this event was play the song throughout all of Eorzea like they did at the end of 1.0.
The story behind it at the time was Hydaelyn's voice calling out to those of us with the power of the Echo to stand up against Darnus and Dalamud.
Now, for ARR and beyond, the lyrics are more for those who join now to look to us, the Legacy players - the Meteor Survivors, the Warriors of Light - for guidance."Look to those who walked before to lead those who walk after."
But, you know. that's for Lore junkies who like to dive deep into these things.

I must admit I stayed in limsa a lot longer than normal last night, the music is so hauntingly beautiful that I just found myself chilling out there

I remember logging into 1.0 with the Dalamud countdown clock ticking down as you typed in your details. Made it feel damn real. The servera going dead and the opening ARR movie playing as the farewell to 1.0
I've spent literally all day sat in limsa just listening.
I know exactly the feels you speak of
